To paraphrase what Ansel Adams once stated, he wished he could be alive when analog went to digital.

Try Photographers Edge. I have used them for many years. I went with the 5x7 cards in which you can place a 4x6 photographs. I sold them at outdoor arts and crafts shows, mostly juried. I sold as few a 40 at a show and as many as 250, with a good ROI.

I have owned the D7500 since it first came out. I purchased it with the kit lenses, despite the fact that I already had several other DX, due to the incredible review of those kit lenses. I have shot everything from landscapes, seascapes, architecture, automotive, railroads, and model shoots. Great Camera. Don't fret about it only having one card slot.

Run away. Don't look back. Marketing for the Arsenal was great. Not so much the hardware in my opinion.

Thanks Paul. Before a shoot, I discuss clothing and poses with the models to make sure we are on the same page, which eliminates awkwardness or issues during the shoot. The only shoots I have turned down are when the model asked me to photograph her having intercourse. I also always ask the model if it would be okay for me to touch them to move an arm, etc., into position if they are unable to achieve to pose without help. To touch a model without permission is totally unacceptable.

Good luck with your projects.

Hi Paul,
I shoot Models from Model Mayhem and I offer prints or all files I have post processed from the shoot. On my MODEL Release, I state quite clearly the model can use the files for any purpose to further her career. I still retain all rights to do any manipulation or use the photos as I see fit. Most models prefer the digital files, which I load into a Drop Box folder, from which they can download the photos. The folder is available for a set amount of time, then deleted. Many photographers will wince at my giving those rights to the model I am sure.

If you would like to take a look at my work, here is my MM # 1388481.

Best of luck in your endeavors.

Daniel

Hi Steve,
There once was a time where such endeavors did indeed produce decent income. I am afraid those days are over. I have been selling my photographs since 2007, mostly at arts & crafts shows, but also online. Before Covid I saw sales slowing to the point where I made little if any profit after all the work entailed in doing a show. I used to do 20 or more shows a year, now I am down to 2-4.

Regarding online sales, the old saying "build it and they will come" does not hold true with online photography sales. Sure, there may be a few out there making a lot of money, but getting rich, doubtful. It is like those books, "How to Become Rich, be a millionaire, etc. The only person usually making money is the person selling the book. I have been on several different platforms, and settled on Zenfolio (if you want to check out my website on Zenfolio, go to www.photoartbydan.com. The key to online is, you must advertise that you are there, that you exist. Search on some of the sites you mentioned, and likely there are thousands of people trying to sell their photography. If you have a niche, perhaps you will make some money. Good luck with whatever you try Steve.

I bought the Arsenal Pro 2 and frankly, I would have been better just burning the money in my back yard and roasting marshmallows. The main reason I purchased it was for focus stacking...major disappointment. No firmware updates in months.

I am 70 and can highly recommend Cotton Carrier to help mitigate the weight while walking g around with whatever camera/lens combination you have or might have in the future. I also agree with the suggestion of using a good quality monopod.

I grew up learning the art of photography starting with a Kodak Pony, where you had to set aperture, shutter speed and distance. My first auto camera was a Konica Teflex, with external meter and the ability to shoot 72 photos on a 36 exposure roll of film. Fast forward to the digital age. I rarely shoot auto ISO. Nor do I shoot on Auto mode. I set up my D7500 with Aperture Priority, ISO of my choosing based on conditions, letting the camera select shutter speed. I use exposure compensation as needed, and sometimes will bracket just in case. Auto ISO, only when absolutely necessary.

I started with my first camera when I was 7 years old. My grandfather, a photographer Gave it to me. I learned using a Kodak Pony where you had to set distance and aperture, then peer through a blurry little window hoping the photo would be correct. Over the years I continued to learn the art of photography. I had a B&W and color darkroom setup. To get some easy “A’s” in college and grad school I took photography courses. In all this I learned the technical aspects are just part of the equation equaling a good photograph. I joined a photo club and in the first group critique of members’ photographs I came across several people who resemble the “expert” you took the class from. At the end I went to the President of the club and expressed my displeasure with these other photographers tearing apart good photographs and their pontificating on how they would have done it. I never went back. Your photographs are wonderful! Don’t let this expert egoistic take anything away from your art! Keep on making photographs!

I recently saw Topaz AI sharpen 3.2 being offered for free…and I am not talking about an update. Wonder if that means they are coming out. With another Sharpen AI program, since I have read about many issues with the updates
