I bought a refurbished Canon 80D with 18-55 mm STM lens for 799.00. That will leave you enough room to buy extra batteries,SD cards, used carryingbag, and maybe a long zoom lens. Like Tamron 70-300 or a on 50-250

I am new to this form and value any input, I presently own a Canon Rebel T1i and looking to upgrade my camera. I have two cameras in mind and can not deside which one to buy ! The Canon 7d2 or the Nikon D750. I never had a Nikon. No wildlife shooting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Karl; Allow me a few words regarding Kit Lens. Unless you upgraded your 18-55 kit lens then yes your lens is long on tooth. I recently upgraded from a T3i with a 18-55mm kit lens to a Canon Refurbished 80D with the latest 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 STM kit lens. Boy ol boy, between the 80D and this kit lens I really saw a difference. I was able to buy the 80D with the 18-55 f3.5-5.6 STM for $799.00. That kind of price beats the 77D by $50.00 without a lens. Your 70-250mm is a good lens. I am using the Tamron 70-300 f4, bought used for 150.00. This a very good piece of glass for the price. My next lens is my newer baby the 24mm F2.8 pancake lens. Wow so much better than my old kit lens. In fact, I will not buy the nify fifty f1.8. I will just crop to the same image size.
Looking at these savings, you would have enough monies to buy the Sigma lens plus a couple yongnou flashes and other tools for expanding your photo capabilities. I added reversing rings to use for macro. Filters of higher quality like B&W. A Good heavy duty Tripod with spare quick release plates. I bought a wireless remote from Cowboy Studio for less than $30.00. A couple spare batteries.
Well, finally, You may want to consider your friend if he has lens which you could obtain from him or jointly buy a special lens{ what a can of worms LOL}. Anyway, you should take stock of all your items. Then see if what updating or grading is necessary for expanding your photographic journey.

For those of you who wish to adapt Canon FD lens to EOS DSLR cameras use this focus and link. Then select the lens to adapt. Watch the videos to see how it is accomplished.
I converted a 50mm F1.4 and am very happy even though I manually have to focus and F stop.
Oh by the way, I too bought one of those cheap FD adapters with the optics. Yup way to soft.

I researched for a dashcam and found Dieselboss.com has a unit designed for truckers. It seems the truckers have a serious problem of people short braking them or just pulling over right in front.
This dashcam is about $80.00 but can record up to 8 hrs and is HD. Plus has it's own playback screen and can add a second camera.

I would like to add my list.
If you have never been to SF, add a couple days
Napa Valley
Now is where you have to make a decision , head towards Reno/Lake Tahoe or up the coast via Hwy#101.
I like the coast for ocean shoots and the redwoods. Then head over to Crater Lake going up Hwy#97 towards Bend. Now take the Cascade scenic Hwy# from Hwy#58 { the scenic hwy will have you seeing many many lakes, 3 sisters mountains, Broken top, mt. Bachelor, and into Bend.
Back on Hwy#97 going North you will see grain fields over rolling hills. Once you reach Hwy#84, head towards Portland. This scenic drive is one of the best I have ever seen in the US.
Well, we have now missed numerous Oregon coast photo opportunities and yes you can drive from Portland to Oregon's wine country and on to Lincoln City. Now on Hwy#101 again head North to Astoria. After Astoria and touring the Astor column plus several museums. I would have you drive back up the Columbia river to Longview, WA. Now you can take in Mt. St. Helens. Continue up I-5, to Mt. Rainier.
You are now close to Seattle and all the museums plus the bays.
After Seattle, I woulds like you to drive East on Hwy#90 to Wentachee, WA.
then on to Leavenworth. After Leavenworth you will drive East viewing the Little Alps to Hwy #I-5. Drive on to Vancouver, BC
Have seen it all. no but you get a little taste of everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer. The total miles without adding any "around the area driving is 2400 miles and about 6 days of highway driving. I would add at least 3-4 days extra just for driving. Now add your day rest time and exploring, taking pictures, and oh eating. I think you will be happy to see Vancouver for a long deserved rest. However, you have seen some of the most worldly areas and I would hope you took thousands of pictures.

I may have missed this answer however, the kit len are not using a good stepper motor like the USM lenes. Like my 75-300mm III Canon zoom, it is slower to find focus. It is plastic built housing.
