Winter. Way less people. No bear but more wolf sightings. Spectacular geyser steam with the cold weather. Winter activities like snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There are also snow coach tours with photo guides of desired. Stay at old faithful snow lodge and at mammoth or Gardner for trips on your own across the north.

Consider a photo guide. I’ve worked with the guy who runs rainforestphotoguides.com. They are outstanding.

I didn’t see anyone mention the battery usage when using pro capture. It does eat them much faster. Also one reason people often end up with so many photos is that you have your shutter 1/2 pressed thus engaging the buffer and then decide you want a shot of that sitting bird so you press all the way and get 50. Or even if you release and repress you are at 30 or 50 fps and still get too many. It is a great tool with some drawbacks.

That is my question.
Will pressure on a sensor that moves damage the mechanism?

I’m an OM digital systems and have been told that you need to clean with the power on to stabilize the sensor and avoid damaging mechanisms. This is unconfirmed by any other source and I have not tried it yet.

I forgot- I also illuminated the foreground with my headlamp for a slit second during one of my shots.

Quite a large set of great captures. How did you do the last one ????

I identified Polaris because it is stationary in the sky. Mounted on a tripod I aimed the camera at Polaris. I have an Olympus EM1m3 and set up live composite option with 20 second exposures x 40 exposures. This can be done in other camera (and this one too) with long exposers to let the stars trail around Polaris.

And it finished it off a butterfly and starry sky (from Southport Maine).

I spent much needed time on photo-therapy. Being new to birding all the birds were new to me. Salisbury has a campground and the birds there are literally right outside your door. More to come.
