Tamron and Sigma both have winners and losers, as do all lens makers. I have the Sigma 150-500mm and have found it to be a great lens, Tamron's 200-500mm doesn't come close to the Sigma. The Tamron 150-600 (for Nikon) hasn't yet been released and the Canon version has waiting lists a mile long.

You are comparing 2 very different cameras here, the T3i is a "crop" sensor camera and the D600 has a full size sensor. They are both capable of recording video but the price tags are also very different. Both are good cameras and will do the job it just depends on what you want to spend to get it done.

That is certainly a concern, but I'm probably going to be keeping this camera for quite awhile. My main concern was and continues to be, what I see as, a breach of faith by Nikon with their customers.

I recently sent my D600 in for service related to the first service bulletin in February and am taking periodic test shots to look for any spots. I had returned to the Photography Shop at which I had purchased the camera for sensor cleaning at least twice due to the "spots" issue before the Service Bulletin came out.

Hopefully the service they performed will correct the issue with my camera.

I usually shop at my "local" photo shop about 18 miles from home. I have bought some equipment on line but want to ensure that my Photoconnection remains open and available so I spend there fairly often. It's a great place for advice, the hub of our Camera Club and a great source of shooting buddies.

I got mine back and it is not showing any signs of spots, dust whatever. I also got a message from a friend that said Nikon would replace D600's with continued problems with a D610, this is the website link;

www.slrlounge.com

I haven't seen anything on the Nikon site about this program though, seems to me they should have owned the issue much earlier and should just make the exchanges for anyone who has had ANY issues.

I've used a 1.4 teleconverter with both my 70-300 and my 300 prime Nikor lenes. However, due to the lens construction I have to use different TC's with each of those lenes, make sure you use the TC which will mate with that particular lens

I sent my D600 in the day after I received the service advisory and they received it on Feb 28th, just checked today and it's still located in the "SHOP". I noticed the "spots" reduced greatly after about 3200 clicks but recently noticed they began to come back in force after about 7600 clicks. The notice I received indicated that they were not only cleaning the sensor but replacing the shutter as well. I hope this will take care of this issue once and for all.

I have used the Tamron 18-270 for years and it is my go to walkin' around lens. It is about the most useful lens I have ever owned.

We have invested enough of our NAtional assets in this area of the world to little or no effect. Our troops and their families have sacrificed more that enough. The politicans place the nation into situations with no thought to what they expect to achieve to "make things better". We have not been hired to be the worlds police force, if the "world" wishes to address an issue that THEM step up with their military and national assets.

The President and his "advisors" threw out what they believed was a neat and manly sound bite about something that had no direct affect on the US National interest. They thought that they could scare Assad into complying... that didn't work and Obama was made to look a fool. Now he wants our military to cover the check HE bounced .... If the world is horror struck about the use of the chemical weapons let the French and the Italians send their troops and supplies to address the issues. We have no treaty obligations with the Syrian rebels, a large faction of which have been killing American troops and citizens for years,

I have to agree, the ring lights in the model's eyes is both un-natural and, in my opinion, ruins the image. While I understand some photogs push the limits in post production to produce surreal images this does not appear to be the case in this image. Just a poor choice for a cover.

How did she send the photo to you? If she texted it to you then the phone will resize the photo and there's no way you can get a large print out of it. If she still has it on her phone, she has to connect the phone to her computer and upload it to her computer like some people do with there cameras. I don't know how many megapixles her phone is, but if it's a 3mp camera in her phone then she will have a photo good enough to print. If she doesn't have a printer, then she'd have to email the photo to you from her computer or put it on a flash drive and hand it to you.[/quote]

I put her memory card into an SD sized adapter and load it into the computer directly from that so I'm pretty sure I got the best picture possible out of the file.

Thank you all for your efforts.... and I have told Karen that she really needs a GOOD pocket size point and shoot camera so that she can capture the suddenly picture worthy sights. She went out and bought an Android instead .... at least that has a better camera than she was using. LOL
