Thanks again everyone - I know now my 7d is not faulty C
Also the radio trigger is rated at 1/200 (now I've checked) so looks like I should be happy with 1/180. Just curious as I!m new to studio.
Thanks everyone, I will check the sync speed with my speed light but thinking about the points raised I suspect the flash units may be the cause, they are Godox dx300's which are at best entry level, thanks for all of your replies. Steve
I have just started to use my 7D with studio flashes. In the hand book it says that the max sync speed is 250th but with the camera set at this speed there is noticeable dark section in the shot. This is caused by the shutter curtain not being fully open during flash. Changing the speed to 180th overcomes the problem. Has anyone noticed this on the 7D ? The difference in speed is considerable, the camera is quite old and well used so I'm wondering if this is something that can be fixed or should I just accept it. Any thoughts?
I have a 60mm macro lens all be it canon my experience is that this is far too short use at least 100mm otherwise you will almost be touching your subject with the front element

Have a look at the Huron H610pro. I use a Wacom intros 3 which is excellent but I needed another tablet for a second pc the Wacom in the uk this comes in at around £250.00 the Huion has an active area of 10 x 6.5 plus hot keys and at £65 from Amazon was worth a try - so far very good.
Thanks - I''ll just have to experiment with combinations of the settings -just wondered if any one had already done this or had any tips.
Hi all, have just bought a Seal 500 press for mounting prints. So far I have successfully mounted prints to backing board which works great. When I got it I was given a roll of clear laminate. Not sure how to use it, so far all I have managed is to create a moon scape of air bubbles. Does anyone have any experience with the laminating process. I have tried the Webb which is very useful for mounting prints but not laminating. Thanks Steve
Thanks George - I can see this will occupy quite a lot of the winter months!
A big thanks to everybody - I have just had a look at ' Strobist ' web site looks just what I need - I'll do a little more research before buying. Thanks again ......
Hi Amehta had't thought of that I guess that's two of a kind then probably two soft boxes thanks
Thanks David and Amehta I must say flash appeals the most thought I should start with two heads and a soft box plus one umbrella I am using a 7d and thinking of portraiture & still life.
Hi all does anyone have advise / opinion on the most versatile type I.e. Flash Vs Continuous lighting. This will be my first venture into studio work as a hobby so not looking to spend too much. Thanks Steve
