Thank you all for your votes. I put in 2 downtown Midway, and the wall looking to the right. Downtown Midway got 2nd place. I know the horse farm got lots of votes, but my friend was with me that day and took one very similar. He had less to choose from so I told him to enter his.

Help me pick the best two photographs to enter into my camera clubs competition. I have to enter by tonight so it will be a quick gathering to see which ones stand out the best to the most people. The subjects vary, the competition was of a certain county in our area. All of these represent that county.

Being a former international exhibition entrant & judging panel member in this field, here are my picks -
Portraits: #1 with some cropping off left side & top.
Creative - #3, although Historical #1 would make excellent entry - if local or area judge has ever worked in this
field to properly evaluate such subject matter.
Fauna: #1
Historical: #1

Would have liked to have seen your two selections.

I get that, I do not think the judges have been announced yet. There is usually a pure photojournalist type, one artsy and one formal. We also do club choice, picked by members

My clubs annual print show is coming up and trying to get a feel for best images to put in the show. I am allowed 4 images and there are different categories. I will list which category I would put in. I need 2 more I have two picked already. The creative class means anything goes Manipulations allowed as long as all pieces are your own images no parts of the photo from other people work. Please pick favorite from each category

I want to enhance what I consider my focal point. I will make this area the brightest and sharpest focus in most cases. You can do the sliders in Photoshop for same effects. Go to filters then Camera raw. You will find same great tools there. I use the brush tool there to highlight or shadow and decrease clarity in background many times. Just play with it. I learned this technique from a you tube photographer name Serge Rameli. He has lots if free tutorials.

I can’t put the stove and coffee pot in still life because our definition of still life is that photographer must arrange the items. I did not in this case

A lot of my post processing is done in Lightroom. I use the slider bars to start my process. Take highlights down (mostly to 100% in inanimated objects and shadows up 100%) then start with white slider up and black slider down around 20% then adjust to how much I like. Clarity up and then play around. I use the brush tool and other to make individual area adjustments.
