According to Sibley Guide to Birds, it is a Red-Winged Blackbird.
I used to live in that part of AZ. White water Draw is a great place for birding. For photography it is hard to beat Chiricahua National Monument. You might also enjoy the John Slaughter Ranch near the Mexico border. The Ramsey Canyon Preserve near Sierra Vista is also worth visiting.
A D50? What I want to know is how have you avoided a GAS attack this long? Please share your secret!
I am smart enough to know better than to get involved in a Nikon vs Canon debate, but I must say that the images you have posted here are absolutely beautiful. Your use of light is amazing.
Just curious. I live in the Eastern Sierra in Nevada and would like to know where the 1000 foot cliff is. If it is accessible by 4X4 it would be fun explore.
The car of my dreams would be a 1964 Shelby Cobra. I wish I had kept some of the cars I have owned in the past. Like my 1955 Chevy, 1959 Porsche 356, and 1966 Plymouth Barracuda All of these cars are now worth about 30-40 times what I sold them for.
My wife ribs me about why I still carry my DSLR, lenses and tripod when we are out exploring near our home here in the Eastern Sierra in Nevada. I tell her that my gear is much more sophisticated than a phone, and gives me much more control. On our last excursion the wild flowers were something to behold. So she whips out her phone and takes this picture with her five year old phone. No processing either.
The bar is probably open by now
Except under exceptionally bad shooting conditions I use aperture priority. I absolutely never use the manual mode, because if the image turns out bad there is nothing to blame except the photographer (Me!)
Pengra Bridge over the Willamette River near Fall Creek OR. I used to use this bridge getting to and from work back in the 70s
I graduated from high school in 1960, so I definitely experience the 1950s. It was a great decade to be a teen! My first car was a 1955 Chevy. I bought it used for $600! One comment... Wearing a suit or a sports coat to a dance must be an east coast thing. I grew up in the central valley of California and didn't own or wear a suit until I got married.
Definitely Ansel Adams and Galen Rowell.
Congratulations on the new addition. We have 3 kids, 8 grand kids, and 3 great grand kids. I am 77 years of age and can still remember all of their names! Life is good, but Christmas is a challenge!
