Camera makers use it for marketing.

I have never heard of anyone shooting in an iso of 100,000

Yes it does but when would you ever set to 100,000 iso?

As you raise your ISO, you see more noise. You should almost never go over, at the most, 800. I set my Sony’s to ISO Auto and then shoot in Manuel mode. I use minimum 100 iso and maximum 6400 and then adjust if I need to

Great Camera. I use the 7riii and A9. The colors that you get from Sony is so special. My images always have Pop. I would strongly recommend that you invest in quality glass. I would look at the 24-70 f2.8, the 70-200 f2.8 and the 100-400 f 4.5. I now use mainly my primes but these three zooms would keep you going for many years. I started with Sony with an A6000 when I switched from Nikon. Had been using Nikon for about ten years. Experiment and enjoy.

I would think the 600 with the teleconverters would be similar to the 400 in sharpness. For me, the 400 was my choice due to not being restricted to a monopod or tripod and the ability to be more flexible in low light. I also use my 7riii with the 400 but prefer the A9. By the way, I can only think of one time where I used the A9 and cropped and was disappointed. Twenty four megapixels appears to be sufficient.

I use the Sony 400 2.8 with the 1.4 and 2.0 teleconverters matched up with the A9. I have never shot with the 600, but have no problem with the 400 hand held. Furthermore, combined with the teleconverters there is very little loss in sharpness and even if you use the 2.0 you have an 800 at 5.6 and the flexibility to use the 400 in low light with no teleconverters. I would consider the 400 and the two teleconverters give you three lenses, a 400 2.8, 540 4.0 and 800 5.6.

I lost a water resistant Olympus tough when it fell off my wrist while snorkeling in the Galapagos. This was the first time I was using it. I saw it disappear as I tried to grab it. I immediately put a lens cover on my Sony 400 out of the box.

I once dropped a Sony 7 II into Lake Bled in Slovenia. You learn that things happen that are not relevant in the scheme and journey of life.

We all need very little but still want a lot. Photography is never defined by gear. It’s all in the eye and the ability to see an image before you take it. About five years ago, I had the privilege of taking pictures with an Italian photographer from Florence. He shot with a ten year old Canon crop and I was amazed by his ability and talent. Every once in a while I take out my old film camera and then my Nikon D40 for the thrill and challenge. I must admit, I enjoy the challenge of learning and creating with the modern gear. Keeps my mind active.

We need very little but want a lot. Every once in a while I take out my old film camera and use it. I also take out my first digital camera. It is the Nikon D40. 6 megapixels and horrible ISO. Gear never defines anyone’s photography. It’s all in the eye and the ability to see an image before you take it. I must admit, I do love the equipment I have and the challenges that equipment presents.
