Several of the top people at Boeing have been "let go," and it's rumored that a woman will replace Calhoun as the CEO. Mr. Calhoun will be out of a job by the end of the year. I hope he can find a new job before he has to go on welfare. At least they gave him nine months to get himself ready for a lower standard of living. Maybe he'll start a GoFundMe to help him buy food and pay the rent until he finds a new job.

When you look at the number of changes in management Boeing has gone through in recent years, you have to wonder why they bother. All they are doing is making millionaires richer.

One of Boeing's largest customers is RyanAir. The head of the company said that when they receive a 737, they have to spend a couple of days examining it and removing tools and replacing missing parts.

"Calhoun's annual salary is about $1.4 million and his target annual bonus is about $17 million. 5 days ago."

Based on an eight-hour day, he's making about $9,000 an hour.

Another source says he made over $24 in 2023, for $12,000 an hour, not bad for a kid from Philadelphia.

In an automobile it is call planned obsolescence. But that does not seem to apply to aircraft.

I often see retreads from trucks lying on the Interstates. I wouldn't want to run over one of them. If I was driving a truck, I'd prefer retreads to regrooved tires.

Retreads are not a valid option when the temps get to be 115 degrees F. We have little options to but to buy new tires.

I drove 100 mph (indicated) about three times, and that was enough. You're asking a lot from your tires at that speed.

Sorry but they are valid and separate entities. Do you always have to be right?

In the 50 tire ranking were not and issue. But I agree with you. One a similar trip during the late 60 I drove a car with retreads. They could not take the heat and lost three of the four by peeling. Not speeding mind youl, just lost them because they could not take the heat.

Defective equipment is no excuse. For that reason, car speedometers cannot read lower than the actual speed. You can't use your speedometer as an excuse. When your speedo indicates 65, you're probably going 63 or 64.

Never got pulled over for driving excessive. So no excuse was necessary just stating what happened. Oh, BTW during the 50's there were no speedlimits on any of the freeways in Nevada. It was not uncommon to drive 100mph.

What to do if your speedometer breaks. I live 120 miles of open road away from Vegas. Bought a new Truck and during the first years the speedometer broke. No I was not driving too fast. I was tooling along and noticed I was passing every one and the speedlimit was 80mph. I wonder, how fast am I going. I slowed down to see if I could read the speedometer in the car next to me. I could not get a good enough view of it. So I check my speed against the mile markers on side of the road. Took me 40 seconds to drive one mile. I decided doing 110mph was too fast and pull in line with those that were driving the speedlimit. At 80mph I felt like I was crawling.

They sometimes use the expression, "Tree nuts or peanuts." From my experience, if someone is allergic to one, he's allergic to both. This must be bad for the peanut butter industry. Imagine being allergic to walnuts but not cashews, etc.

Peanuts are a legume and grow in the ground like other legumes. They are called peanuts because they are nutritionally like a nut. There are also some tree that are legumes, like Mesquite. I am not advocating to throw caution to the wind but for an understand it is important to know.

They also say the earth is flat. I know people who developed a chocolate allergy later in life, and I know others who developed peanut allergies later. Both ate those foods in their younger years. I've developed a slight allergy to cats, although I've had one or more since I was a kid.

Being allergic to nuts is so widespread and so serious that there should be more research into it. I suspect it isn't profitable enough, though.

It become a somewhat confusing issue. Peanuts are not real nuts but a legume and do not grow on trees. So it is possible to be allergic to nuts and not peanuts.
But when in doubt trill about.

Everything is SO beautiful, until you get to the price! $94,000 and up is a little steep for 90% of the people.

You are forgetting the real issue and that is the batteries freeze up so you cannot drive them. $90,000 for a door stop is no little deal.

They are still not cheap. Around $100 and they have limitations.

Electronics you can only replace not fix. If you have a burned out resistor you have to replace it. How do you fix a resistor? Now if a trace on the PCB is burned out you can patch it but it's not a good thing. It's better to replace it.

These were corroded plates caused from a leaky battery that I forgot to remove. Gave them to my son who is an engineer and he cleaned them up and they work as good as new. Besides if you look at the plates they are replacable. Never say never. I cleaned up the easier one myself.

Wouldn't exchanging parts (good for bad) be repairing it?

Sort of but not by old time standards. In other word they did not repair and felt content to let it go to the trash bin. They were about $500 EACH.
