The Kenai>Anchorage trip was in my 2019 Subaru Forester. 17 inch wheels with Studded tires. During the 3 hour wait, 6 inches of new snow was added. All automatic viewing of highway lines turned off by snow and the danger of vehicle Auto steer systems causing loss of control. Once rolling again the Suby foraged through the 10-14inch snow areas without getting stuck. (perhaps mucho winter driving experience helped)
It was a lamb early March (white coat) it was a lion early March Ferocious winter.

Please do not mandate electric for all. Winter drive Kenai to Anchorage, Alaska. Normal time 3 hours. Accident at Turnagain Pass. stopped with cars in front & Back;
3 hour delay. The 173 miles took 6 hours. Including need for head lights, interior heater, and external temps of 10F. Glad to have a full tank of Gasoline.

So Surprised I did not see the WSJ
I get on line...pricey yes....balanced yes...and so educational...art..cooking..wine..travel literature etc

Professional/balanced writing AND

they very seldom have to correct a story...
They get it right the first time.....not the fastest...Howerver, the most accurate.

I readead LAT, NYT, SF Bay Area papers, Anchorage AK times......ended all subscriptions...
unbalanced and a lack of honest news......

Face book and digital sources....are not news....but opinions....and pretty poorly written.
I have to spend too much time researching their sources...and mostly find them faulty.

WSJ try it!

Stop bragging....I'm a Professional Mechanical Engineer and 42 year Alaska Commercial Fisherman

In my 35 years with Chevron I've been in the middle of a 3,000 psi hydrogen
reactor fires....front line fire hoses to get into block valves.

Gaters ,bob cats snakes.... just outside the truck? HA!

Try a 2,000 LB brown bear just outside your shirt....

You really have not lived where the Wild Bears Roam...

Once you do that....you can call yourself dirty harry????

and when you see one coming at you..... your view of "save all the bears" will change

Where, when and what weapons were you carrying....

And I'm talking a stroll thru the Zoo.

"Hartland Township is a civil township of Livingston County in Metro Detroit"
Just another woodsman living on the frontier....
Bet there is more drug user danger than bears?

Further more, if you truly got in then out safely....
and you have learned adults and children are dying from
bear attacks.....

What makes you the authority NOT to thin the bear population?

I kind wonder if the Starbuck woodsmen know what they are taking about?
I can take you places close to Anchorage, AK (where several bear mauling/killing occur) Yes and this summer camping parks are closed
in a city of 300,000 people.

And you "pho" Woodsmen with come back with brown shorts......if you are lucky!

Do not walk in woods and give advice....unless you have lived it.

Interesting responses from a number of people with all the "good" thoughts. I live in Alaska where we wake to find another adult or child eaten by both brown & black bears......Big bears have no real predators except starvation. And starvation from over population
results in human injury. I hope if you visit our great state, you or or loved ones will not be attacked by a bear...a horrible experience. Stop pontificating in area that need to left to science-based wildlife management. You will be helping the bears and the people who live in areas where bear populations are too high to be supported by the natural diet. Let the experts thin the predators where needed.

Interesting look at a two word problem

NO RESPECT

Interesting one word root cause

DRUGS

posible three solution

MANDITORY DRUG TESTING

short insights...

Knives k**l more people each year that rifles...
60,000+ people die die from just the opioid drugs....

When teenagers (and Adults) march to remove drugs from our society.....
Then the conversation will be focused on the root cause....

Mandatory testing for every person in the USA ages 16 years to 70 years

To beat the problem....you have to ID the problem!

We start from both ends the President and every elected official on down
and every HS Freshman on up. those in the middle will start to think about
the coming positive ID of their habit.

Crime, shootings, knife play, auto slaughter basically rooted in the societies
acceptance of the RIGHT to use drugs.

So stop marching and talking about a few tools used by a society
to display their lack of respect through their acceptance of drugs.

ID the root cause in every person on America

Then spend our time/money on saving them
(and ourselves)

They do not franchise the service to USPS.
The Post office just lets box holders use the address
for delivery. Not much different than delivering to a
central location where the owners get the delivery
when they access the internal central receiver.

When you look a the fear of Door step thieves
and misdelieries this makes perfect sense.

Not to mention my being able to get orders that cannot
be sent to a PO BOX.

In my case I live out of Kenai where is is no mail service
and delivery of packages is difficult.

AND I email everytime I go by a postoffice with people
standing in line to pickup packages.

Hope this helps.
