Beauty!! Fenway and a great sunset, who could ask for more?! Did they win to put the icing on the cake?

Correct. His bill for an asthma attack has run over $4,000, but his copay is $75. For $4,000, he gets checked over, a pill, and a prescription. Then he gets to take a brief rest on a cot. Imagine the hotel room you could get for $4,000.

Never mind the bill - what did the insurance company actually pay. The actual bill is meaningless, the payment from insurance is what counts.

Planning a self-drive tour around Iceland. 14 days. Should I take a laptop? Can use for external hard drive transfer of photos. Sure adds weight however. Alternatives? Thanks.

I've been to Iceland three times one time camping in the highlands and I"ve taken my laptop every time. It's nice to have a laptop to do some post processing when you have time. I normally download each days shoot onto the laptop and then back them up to a portable HDD. Never had an issue and the extra weight didn't bother me.

Great that they keep announcing new Z lenses. That's all they are is announcements. What's the point if you can't purchase them in a timely manner?

Does any one have recommendations on Photography led tours to capture the Northern Lights from Iceland and any recommendations about your experience including how to handle the camera in the cold weather, and what settings you used. I have a canon EOS R (mirrorless) and I am planning to use a wide angle lens EF24mm r/1.4l II USM. I am planning a trip in 2023. All recommendations welcomed. THANK YOU!

I have done 3 different tours with Iceland Photo Tours. First rate and great guides. I recommend them highly.

Based on current production of new Z9 and 24-120 plus 100-400, we should see delivery in 2027.

Agree 100%!

You will find the 24-120 Z mount to be an excellent choice. I really like mine! Best of luck.

Thanks. Really looking forward to getting it. I had the F mount version but find the z lenses so muck better.

Looking for advise from all the Hogs. Current equipment base is a Nikon D750 and Nikon D500. Lots of lens ranges to accompany. As I age, I find it harder and harder to shoot BIF for long periods of time with longer lenses. I have used a gimble but am not totally happy with that solution. Am now thinking of changing to a Nikon D850 or a Nikon Z series (probably a Z8). Is there a significant weight tradeoff by going mirrorless and am I trading other benefits by moving from DSLR to Mirrorless format. I know that is the future direction (Nikon just discontinued the D500) but wonder if the 850 will give me more benefits than the Z series. Am not doing any video work, just still imagery.

I had an 850 and several lenses. I sold everything and purchased a Z7II and new lenses. I can only tell you my experience. My backpack went from 28 pounds to 17 so for me it was well worth it. I really like the Z7. For lenses I have 16-30 and 70-200 with 2X converter. I don't see any image degradation using the converter. I have the 24-120 on order.

I am going to Iceland and hope to see the Northern Lights. I am a very amateur photographer with appropriate cameras - Nikon 7100 with a Nikkor 18-140 3.5-5.6 lens, or a Nikkor 18-55, 3.5-5.6. I also have a Panasonic FZ-300 with a 25-600, 2.8-8.0. Can I expect to get shots of the Northern Lights with either of these? If not, any reasonable recommendations, e.g., renting a better lens, don't bother, enjoy whatever I can see but forget photos?

I've been there a few times. You will need a sturdy tripod and I would at least rent a faster lens. I would recommend the nikkor 20 1.8, it's wide and fast. A 1 week rental will be less than $100.

I have been using a Synology 4 bay NAS for several years using the Synology SHR. It's on my network and available to any computer at any time. I have it backing up to a USB drive once a week which I rotate. It's fast and responsive. I have had a drive failure. I replaced the failed drive and it was rebuilt within 24 hours with no data loss. If I was doing it again I would opt for a 5 bay with a hot spare so a drive failure would be seamless.

I highly recommend Synology.
