Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I discovered Save a Copy and that worked. I don't know why but after I saved a JPG from there it seems to now be remembering to give me a JPG option. I think Gatorcoach has a good idea to get back to the old process. Again, thanks to all. I think I may be all better again!

I've apparently been away too long. I'm using Photoshop CC on subscription. I used to be able to open a raw file, make changes to the image and the save it as a PSD or JPG directly. I just tried it and JPG is not a choice. What happened and how do I save CR2 images as JPGs?

More swans than ducks here.

They all will follow to the gallery soon enough.

Ah, 'tis true that there are more swans than ducks in this post. The ducks were on the move, however, and the swans were in more of a posing mood. Thanks for looking.

I noted the return of a pair of swans to the same nest they have occupied for three seasons. I went to shoot both Cob and Pen for the third time when momma mallard invaded the scene just off shore followed by her newly hatched ducklings. While my objective was the swans, I couldn't resist capturing the parade.

As far as the swans were concerned, I observed that the Pen has matured and has gotten more beautiful each year, like fine ladies tend to do. I look forward to getting a frame or two of the cygnets when they peck their heads out from their protective shells in several weeks. I hope you enjoy these few pics from the St. Joseph River in Elkhart, Indiana.

These were all shot with a 5Dm4 and Tamron 150-600mm lens in case you're interested. Suggestions for improvement are welcome and, since I will have multiple opportunities to revisit the scene, I will be able to apply any such suggestions and prove that you can indeed teach an old dog a few new tricks.

For what it's worth, I agree with you regarding ACR and PS. You really don't need anything else. I might also suggest that JPGs benefit from adjustment in ACR. I always shoot in RAW but I regularly use ACR to tweak JPGs. Many of the same ACR features used on RAW files are available when you open a JPG in ACR. Also note that batch adjustments in PS are a convenient feature

It's important to point out that the version of ACR included with PSE is not the same version included with PS. The PSE version of ACR is deliberately crippled (features removed that are in the PS version).

Thank you, Joe, for your clarification. I have been told that ACR is a feature of PSE. I'm not surprised that some features would have been removed however. I don't know what features they are. Still, I have been led to believe that the ACR that comes with PSE has many of the same basic functions. I assume that most of those things that are NOT available in the PSE version can generally be accomplished to some degree after a RAW image is converted from ACR into PSE. I still recommend PSE because it is affordable and capable of basic image editing. I should mention that promotional materials suggest that PSE still employs layers if you are in the Editor in Edit Full mode but not with folders. I believe that layers are one of the most important features in Photoshop. I long ago devoted a lot of time to learning the full blown Photoshop because of the work that I do. Of course, I still don't know all that Photoshop can do. Feedback from those who have opted to use PSE suggest they are generally satisfied with their results. I do think that even an attenuated version of ACR would be a plus.

Again, thanks for your clarifying comments.

Yes, it includes Adobe Camera Raw for RAW files.

You are correct about Camera Raw. It functions as a plugin and is included with PS Elements. I always remind people that CR will also open JPGs and allow most of the same adjustments as it does with RAW files. I believe that PS Elements is a wise choice for many hobbyists and serious photo users who don't wish to invest the time in learning the more complicated PS program. It also travels well on a laptop when you are away from home/desktop.

I have only edited jpeg files and I think I’d like to try working with RAW files...or NEF for my Nikon.
I’ve seen Lightroom, Photoshop, GIMP and several others but they are either a monthly fee, steep learning curve or just too many unknowns.
I’d appreciate it if you can give me a recommendation. Somewhat computer savvy but PS is a challenge.
Thanks in advance...

I have worked with PS since version 2.0 and I currently use PS CC. I have been a professional commercial photographer for over a dozen years and I have had the advantage of learning PS in small incremental steps with each update offered. I have found it helpful to attend PS seminars and use tutorials whenever possible. I have had numerous friends who have found PS to have long learning curve and they are correct. I think the dedication to learn the program has been worth the effort, however, for those who don't wish to delve so deeply into it, I usually recommend Photoshop Elements. It has many of the same capabilities as PS, but it's much easier to learn because it isn't so complicated by hundreds of features. It also works with Adobe Camera Raw which I think is essential when shooting in RAW and making adjustments in JPGs. I also like the free companion, Bridge, which I find to be a great help in organizing my photos for post-production. I have On1 Photo Raw (but I have yet to seriously use it) and I have tried several other editing solutions. I don't think there is a better photo editing program than PS in some form. Just my opinion. Good luck!

I am working out of my city. So...I did a quick and dirty edit on my phone with a little app called Snapseed. I cropped, dodged the coat of the bear to bring up detail, warmed up the color in white balance, and applied 30% sharpening. I vignetteed the background and increased the saturation slightly. 5 minutes work.

You can do this in Lightroom or PhotoShop.

Thanks...I did it with Photoshop CC with similar effect. I appreciate your taking the time to work with it. I haven't had time to work with several more images. Momma gave me more time than I expected and now I have to evaluate the captures. Again, thanks for your comments and edit.
