To be the wedding photographer for my nephew in late February - i couldn't say 'No' - suggested he consider a professional but betting it will be me.

I have a Nikon D850 / 70-200 / 24-70 / Nikon Strobe & Einstein so hoping i'm OK hardware wise - also have a Mirrorless that can use as a backup.

I did a google for a list of wedding shots that should be taken - sort of like getting a drink from a fire hydrant have no idea which one(s) are correct and which ones are not.

Can anyone here share or point me towards a checklist of shots I should be sure to take/get should i be the chosen one? Also - any other pointers would be appreciated.

David

Rut is happening in North Texas anyway.. I rattled this guy up on Saturday evening. Had fun photographing him - he reacted to the very noisy D800 Shutter - sometimes going out of sight but I was always able to get him to come back by rattling or blowing on the Grunt/Bleat call. 10 miles south of Wichita Falls, TX.

Love it...How do you do that?

I tried to take a picture every 10 minutes - had several interruptions (including 2 coyotes) - so it wasn't so precise - also had to deal with cloud cover so had to shoot when I could. I took about 200 pictures - threw away all but 20 or so then loaded the ones you see in the composite each on a separate layer in photoshop, re-sized them (made smaller) then just sort of scattered them diagonally across the screen.. Only had to watch about 25 Photoshop videos to figure out how to do it :)

Thx - you can download the single ones and look at the EXIF info for sure - I was going from memory which is NOT improving with age

I have 5 1/2 large (like reams of paper comes in) boxes of old(er) photographs, slides and negatives. Getting them scanned has been on my honey-do list for a long time. Hunting season is getting close and this may be some of my lowest hanging fruit. I currently have an Epson Perfection V500 scanner which does a great job on photographs but I've just got too many of them to do one at a time. Looking for something I can load 40-50 into push a button and do something else while they are being scanned to .JPG's. Not so important for the auto feeding of slides and negatives (don't have so many of them).

Anyone have any experience to share? Not interested in breaking the bank with this - looking for something in the $500 range that's reliable and delivers good results?!?!

Thanks!
(Hopefully I put this in the correct section - sorry in advance if not).

From Page 23 of the manual that came with my AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens:

Be careful not to hold the camera body when the lens is attached, as this may cause damage to the camera (lens mount). Be sure to hold both the lens and camera when carrying.

This is what prompted me to remove the neck strap supplied with the camera and get the Black Rapid strap - then I attached the strap to the lens so the lens supports weight of the camera (and I'm making a big assumption that doing so is OK).. The neck strap is too difficult to install remove so I just use the Black Rapid Strap all the time - when 70-200 lens is on camera (D800) I attach Black Rapid to the lens - when 24-70 is on camera I attach Black Rapid to camera. Have since seen/noticed numerous other's with 70-200 f2.8 lens on camera and carrying camera around with neck strap so not sure what to make of all this?

I've been using the "Fusion Plate" from http://fpgear.com/. Ended up buying a second one. Leave on on my D800 and leave the other one on my 70-200 connects to Black Rapid strap and my Arca Swiss tripod mount.

Here's my best of 500 :-D

Nikon D7100 / Nikon 70-200 f/2.8
PocketWizard Plus III's (for remote triggering)
Tripod
ISO 400, f/2.8, 2 seconds, 200mm @ 02:46:30 Central Time

Longer exposure times were blurred - didn't realize the moon moved as fast as it does!

Also, not real sure I'll stay up this late next time unless it's a weekend... dragggggging today!
