Welcome. I own the same bridge camera. I bought it because I was going on a trip with a group and I didn't want to bring one of my Nikons and lenses. I love this camera. I take lots of bird photos. It takes great photos, it is light, and it is quiet.

I am using CS6 products on an iMac OSX Lion and am thinking about upgrading to El Capitan. I am not on the Cloud deal from Adobe, but own my CS6 products (PS, Ai, Id, outright. Will these stand alone versions work on El Capitan?

Perfectly, had some issues with Yosemite (LR only) but with the update to El Capitan that issue went away. All CS6 products work great on this system.

If it doesn't have to be a pocket size camera, check out the Sony HX400V. It has a 24-1200mm (35mm equivalent) zoom, 24mp, & live view LCD panel. I bought 1 about a year ago. Now my wife has taken it over and I'm "stuck" with my Alpha 850.

I agree. I bought the Sony HX400V several months ago because I was going on a trip where I didn't want to have heavy camera gear to carry around. It is a fantastic camera. It has actually become my favorite camera. I am so glad I bought it.

I have the same model. Excellent quality. It takes time to get used to since we are all got used to the mouse. Some would use the tablet to replace the mouse.

I use the same one. It does take some time to get use to, but it is great for certain thing in Photoshop and in Corel Painter.

I have a D7100 and use Photoshop CS6 and used to use Photoshop Elements 10 and Flickr.
I don't load my photos at full size on Flickr. The way I make my photos for Flickr in Photoshop is as follows. While my photo is open I type "command i". A box opens up and I untick the bottom line and change the resolution from 240 to either 91 or 120. and click ok. I then type "command i" again and in the box that comes up I tick the bottom line. In the upper part where it says pixels I type 1000 and click ok.
I then go to file. Under file I chose "save for web" and in the box that comes up I name by file and save a low res photo for the web.
There are many ways to do this but that is how I do it using photoshop.

I have the Nikon 80-400mm AF-S lens and use it on the D7100. I was hesitant about buying it because of the cost, but I am so glad I bought it. It is heavy, but I've gotten use to the weight and I often use it with a monopod. It is so sharp! The depiction of the feathers on birds and the petals on flowers is awesome.

Hi DeAnne,

I want to Thank You and Everyone for the comments and feedback.

I too have looked at several sites reviewing the 20-70mm f2.8, most give the Tamron very high ratings and right there with the Nikon.

As an old guy age 75 and shooting as a hobby, family and local high school sports.

I think I may just got with the Tamron. I have the Nikon 24-85mm f3.5 lens along with the 70-300mm f4.5...

The F2.8 24-70mm would be a good addition to my Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 for High School football closer up shots and some basketball.

Thanks very much for the sites and I want to Thank everyone that has commented and made recommendations.

I appreciate everyone's opinion and time to respond.

I will ponder the purchase a couple more weeks before I lay out the cash to purchase since High School Evening sports are not active as the summer approaches.

Thanks and Blessings to All.

Hi DeAnne, br br I want to Thank You and Everyone... (show quote)

Hi Tom,

I don't think you will regret buying the Tamron. When I bought mine from B & H Tamron was offering a $100. mail-in rebate on the 24-70mm which I took advantage of. Since you have time Tamron may offer another rebate before you buy.

[quote=tom kf4wol]I am thinking of purchasing a 24-70mm f2.8 Lens for my Nikon D-610

I have the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 and love it.

Due to cost of the Nikon. I was thinking about buying the less expensive Tamron Lens.

Appreciate any feedback from those with experience in this area.

Thanks
Tom

I too own the Nikon D-610 and the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8. When I bought my 24-70 I bought the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 Lens. I love it and it is on my camera most of the time.

Here is one of the sites I checked before I bought mine.

http://www.cameraegg.org/best-lenses-for-nikon-d600/

This is another site I checked where the Tamron scored higher.

http://www.dxomark.com/Lenses/Compare/Side-by-side/Tamron-SP-24-70mm-F28-Di-VC-USD-Nikon-on-Nikon-D610-versus-AF-S-Nikkor-24-70mm-f-2.8G-ED-on-Nikon-D610-versus-24-70mm-F2.8-IF-EX-DG-HSM-Nikon-on-Nikon-D610___885_915_175_915_300_915

I have been happy with my purchase.

I had a terrible time trying to zoom & take photos with the Canon SX50.I guess it just had to be me because so many people love that camera. My photos just never seemed sharp enough for me so I sold it!

I, too, have had trouble zooming with the Canon SX50. I also do not like the low resolution of the screen. I have not sold mine, and I do use it, but it is one camera that if I had it to do over again, I would not buy.

Can I use an FX Lens on my DX Camera....ie my D7100, and will it cause any problem or change?

Yes. I do it all the time. I have a D7100 and a D610. The lens I really like is the 24-70 mm f2.8, and I use it on both cameras. The D7100 is great for telephoto lenses. If you can I would keep your d7100 when you get your D810. I love my D610 and I am sure you will love the D810.

We are staying in a Lodge in the grounds of Cameron House for a week with rain forecast for most of the week!! We are adjacent to the golf course. We arrived in the rain on Sunday afternoon and when we looked out across the Loch on Monday morning, we were surprised to see this view. Dashed around all day in the sun, even went for a boat ride.......this morning no view only cloud.

Stunning shots! I especially like the first two.

thank you for your response. there is no lock as I have the older model. I put a wrist bank on as suggested by other members of the site and it works fine other than when zooming out it takes a little more effort.
there are no cracks on the lens hood and it does click in place but for some weird reason it sometimes gets loose and falls off. thought someone may have a solution for it

At first mine sometimes fell off, but I discovered that if I have it lined up and it clicks in place it doesn't fall off.

Thank you for all the help. I think I'm going to go for the 2500. It is slightly taller and collapses slightly smaller.

Omigosh, we are both in the same predicament in trying to decide between those three…and I am almost 5'4"! My main concern is getting as close to the ground as I can as I photograph flowers while hiking as well as landscapes…the 2500 is a tad shorter, but the 2400 is lighter...

Let me know what you buy.
