some rusty things seen in West Texas

Really like the composition of the photo of the building, windmill and mesquite tree with a few cows in the backgound. Vintage west Texas.

I agree. This is one of the handful of my very favorite musical compositonns. And this is a good producion, with both the power and the passion of Rachmaninov's music. Thanks for sharing.

I would say, first concentrate on getting better. As scary as a diagnosis like that is, wait for results and talk to your doctor face to face. I'll be the news will be better than all the concerns running through your head.
Not a chance you will have to give up photography. There will be a solution for that , tend to the important stuff first.

Sincere best wishes for a quick and happy recovery

I agree fully. First deal with the medical issue, which is more important, and then the camera issue. Best wishes for successful treatment and recoverey.

Nice capture. I love the framing the low clouds give the shot.

I agree with the ruling. I am president of a community theater and we do plays that are copyright protected. We pay for the right to perform the play, but we cannot do anything else with the play, such as transforming it into our own product or editing the play. We have paid for the right to perform the play as written a limited number of times, nothing more. I think this is a fair and reasonable way to protect the creator of an artistic work.

Yesterday, I started to charge the battery in my Nikon D7200, and discovered that the battery door was missing. Assuming this was something I would need to send to a shop for repair, I called Authorized Photo Service in Morton Grove Il to ask if they could do this repair. The technician told me if this is all that needs repair I could do it myself by ordering a door online and clipping it in place. Later I found the original door and clipped it in. So refreshing to have an honest vendor give me a simple answer and saving me the money of shipping my camera and paying for repairs that I did not need to seek a vendor for. Thank you, Authorized Photo Service.

Kind of an emotional reaction. Reminds me of the type of shots my Dad took at our home in Euless years ago. He liked to shoot sunsets through tree branches with his Argus C3. Loved the shot.

I agree. I bought a refurb D810 just after the D850 came out. Camera arrived in a plain box. Looked brand new. I took a picture and sent it off to see how many shutter clicks, and it came out to be less than 20. My impression is that Nikon was dumping D810 inventory by selling as refurbs, but I have no way of knowing. Anyway, it has performed flawlessly. I am a believer in Nikon refurbs.

Side note. Yes, it really is "Duck Tape." It was originally applied to the fabric known as duck for waterproofing, I think. Still, we'll never know the history of this tape for certain.

A commonly told story is that duck/duct tape as we know it today was created by the Johnson & Johnson company under contract to the US military during the war. Colored green, it was intended to provide a waterproof seal for ammunition boxes, but soldiers found all sorts of uses for it. It is true that Johnson & Johnson was contracted to provide waterproof adhesive tape to seal ammunition boxes, but whether or not this tape was the duck/duct tape that we know today is uncertain.
Side note. Yes, it really is "Duck Tape.&quo... (show quote)

I am pretty sure the tape was originally called "duct tape" and is misprononced as "duck tape." My dad was in the heating and air conditioning business when heated air was moved through metal pipes called ducts. These pipes were made of thin galvanized sheet metal that was rolled and formed so one end of the pipe would fit within another. They were then attached with a sheet metal screw and the joint was sealed with asbestos tape soaked in wheat paste. When this dried, it was a permanent seal. Duct tape replaced the asbestos and wheat paste seal I have applied many yards of asbestos soaked in wheat paste, and when duct tape came out it was a welcome change.

I like the patina or maybe a very good retro paint job.

The paint job looks like the vehicle was painted with orange and then misted with black or a very dark color to simulate the rusted out effect. In my younger years I was a spray painter and used the old-fashioned spray guns with a material line and a separate air line so misting was relatively simple.

Thank you for the suggestion. And thanks for the additional comments about the service. I will bundle my film and ship to The Darkroom and then wait to see what images are on these rolls.
