Well, I should be able to bench press a 5,000 sq ft brick home. You wouldn't believe how many mountains I've had to climb, but I still say I am the most blessed woman in the world. I can still move my hundred pound concrete flower pots when I get tired of having them where they are. (I do that often)

I think God has blessed you beyond our wildest dreams

My advice as I’m 74 and shoot with micro 4/3 Panasonic G9 and a 100-400 Lens for wildlife and especially birds. Crop factor is 2.0 same as a 100 -600 full frame and so much lighter and fin

Oops! Same as a 200-800 full frame

I am a Nikon shooter and was excited to put the Tamron z 150-500mm lens on my z50. I was ready to do more wildlife and birds in flight photography until I spent some time with this beautiful beast….it is too darn heavy for me to hold still and I am not inclined to lug a tripod around when I get the urge to shoot some wildlife when I am close to nature. At 75 I admit I am not as strong as I’d like and holding that lens isn’t getting easier.

So I am returning it to Adorama today and exchanging it for the Sony cyber shot RX10 IV. I guess a bridge camera isn’t so bad….(right?)…..and it sure will make my sometimes forays into nature a little easier. I just hope I don’t have pangs of regret and envy when I encounter folks with those big, beautiful telephoto lens in the field.🥹

I have a Sony RX100VA and the OMS TG-6. The Sony takes better pictures, but the TG-6 isn't bad. Plus, if my grandkids are playing around with the TG-6, I don't have to worry about it even when they are in banshee mode.

Are there any cameras that meet this criteria that are bad? Or are we splitting hairs

I love my Sony RX100v . I have recently looked into the Sony HX99 for more reach but you give up a bit of image quality. But they are still better than a cell phone. The Sony RX100v and RX100vii are a bit pricy. The HX99 is reasonable. Both are slightly larger than a deck of cards.

Does it fit in your pocket?

Ive used 100MP just to copy art. 140 is not gonna show any difference. 100 was overkill. 140 would be "just a number".

Thank you for your honesty! Don’t let anyone on this website know this! There will be a lot of broken hearts

Huh? What 143 meg? Where did I say 61 meg is "magic"?

Frankly, this 24 meg discussion is not the subject of this thread.

It's baloney ... I have a 24 meg Sony and NEVER use it ... there is nothing special about it, it's adequate and I've used 24meg ff for weddings as a workhorse companion to a MF-Digital camera.

... but because it's 24 meg, resale value is dismal.

I guess the point I was making was most will never be satisfied just keep reaching for more megs

24 meg full frame sensor is a sort of sweet spot for 35mm sized digital ... most legacy lenses can perform to that degree of resolution. Plus, most needs of the "average shooter" rarely require a greater meg count.

The notion that larger photo sites deliver some magical performance was born from Medium Format digital backs as 645 sized sensors increased from 25 meg to 40, to 60 then to 100 meg. The 25 meg backs DID have a look to them that many found special.

What has become apparent is that the high meg sensors have been refined and improved, camera hardware has gotten better, lenses have been updated, the processing software significantly improved, and computer software and processing power improved exponentially. This makes 61+ meg very useable in almost every situation, while improving color fidelity and the flexibility of use to fit every need.

I have and use 3 different 61 meg cameras, and a 40 meg Medium Format camera. The Medium Format still outperforms the 61 meg cameras in sheer image quality.

If you think 61 megapixels is magic just wrap your mind around 143 megapixels

I don't eat out as often as I used to, but last night my son and I went to a new local eatery. We each got a cheeseburger with onion rings. I wanted fries, but I wound up with onion rings. The $8.00 hamburger for each of us produced a bill totaling $28.62. This is one reason why I don't eat out very often. Apparently, the $8.00 covered only the hamburger. The list of things below it all included an extra charge, unbeknownst to me. I don't know if paying by CC added to the bill because I didn't get a receipt. I'll continue to eat at home.

At most places you could get a burger and fries for about $14. So maybe isn’t quite as expensive as you thought. Besides being with your son. You have some entertainment value. Now aren’t you glad money well spent

I am encouraged to see that more than 80% of UHHers save raw. At least 43% actually use the raw file (my interpretation). Given the number of SOOC adherents I would have expected more jpg shooters. Of course this poll only counts people who responded to the poll, limited to people who read the main photography section at least occasionally and don't mind advertising their preferences.

Not to dis SOOC shooters. It's their choice and they are apparently satisfied with it. They are as entitled to their opinion as I am to mine.

GREAT NEWS!

A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. After three operations and treatment (and six months out from the last operation) I went in today for a checkup. As of now, I am cancer free. I had been dreading this appointment.

What a great way to start the New Year. Praise the Lord.

Hod is good
