We left for AZ on Jan 27th and didn't return to MT till March 3rd... so much fun! We took the camper and the Polaris Ranger with us to be able to explore the trails in NV, AZ and UT.

Here are some shots from the start of the trip. These are from the NV area's that we stopped at. Will post more from the AZ and UT area's in other posts.

Love the star trail shot !! what were your settings ??

Been there many times - a truly magical event. Forget your converter. it is usually extremely crowded.
Your wide angle and 35-70mm will handle all you need. I never used a tripod for that event.
Try to be there at sundown...the sunset is magnificent over the waterway.

You will enjoy it !!

Make sure to get some Dells Lemonade......

I have several (6) old Minolta mount lenses, old but in excellent condition....I was wondering if it is worth buying a lens adapter ring for use with my Nikon D500. If so any recommendations ?

I hate to toss them out........

Thanks all !

I have experienced this many times over the years...not fun.

This program is what I use all the time when hard drives go south. If the data is still on the drive as I suspect it is - this will find the data and rescue it. I had a Drobo Raid drive last week go bad -very unusual - I could not see the drive at all. A soon as I loaded this program it recognized the drive and I was able to recover all my data.

They have a 30 day trial ...give it a try !

Interesting that you mentioned the enormous crowds in Venice.
I was fortunate to be there in November and I struggled to raise my camera to my eyes without taking 4 or 5 people out. I remember remarking that I have never seen so many people in a city that it made it very difficult to move.

It made New York City on New Years Eve look like a ghost town by comparison!

On another note Venice is one of the most beautiful cities in the world - truly a photographers dream..

I won't be printing larger than 8x10...

After reading all the great input I received from the folks here, I am leaning towards getting the camera.....tough decision....I set Monday as the final day to decide one way or the other..

Thank you all for the insights - very much appreciated.

thank you for your input.....I really like my Nikon D500 and I am always very pleased with the quality & results. The thought of lugging the D500 body & 2 -3 lenses doesn't thrill me ( or my wife).

Seriously thinking of getting the Sony RX10 IV. Just a tad concerned that it will give me similar quality as the D500....

I need to make up my mind real soon as I am leaving in less than 30 days...

Thanks Again!!
