It depends on the picture. In some cases it is a highly probable assumption. In other cases it is a slam dunk and other times its a best guess. So, no, not in EVERY case can EVERYONE determine the providence of the picture. I wouldn't even speculate what the standard deviation would be.

Can you look at picture (copy) of an old picture and determine whether it is an ambrotype, ferrotype or daguerreotype, without handling the original?

Adapters are what they are, but, I've heard a lot of buzz about the advisability of using "L" glass with such camera. No personal experience here, but thus far, all I read is good.

That's not altogether true. I give you a quotation from the On1 help site:

Does ON1 Support Tethered Shooting?
Yes! However, this feature is only available in ON1 Photo Raw 2018 and 2019 versions. Tethered shooting is not available in the Photo 10.5 or Photo Raw 2017. Tethered shooting was added to the Photo Raw 2018 after the 2018.1 update.

Please note, the tethered shooting feature in both 2018 and 2019 versions is limited to certain Canon and Nikon cameras only.

To view a list of supported camera models and tips on how to use this new feature, please click here.

For detailed descriptions of the features in our applications, please refer to our User Guides.
Please note, Nikon and Canon camera models are the only cameras models that are supported in this new feature. Here is a list of supported camera models for tethered shooting:

I totally ignored Tether Shooting while evaluating On1 RAW; I just found out that Live View is not available. A bummer since most of the other higher end editing programs offer it.

I know this has been recommended before. But here it goes again: Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" is far and above one of the best books on the subject. Well worth the $15 to $18 investment. One of the best I've made. And when it comes to photography, I've made many. Some good, some very good, and most bad. This book is well worth the expense.

The active approach is to first choose the setting that is most important to your result:

1. Shutter speed for freezing or blurring motion
or
2. Aperture for depth of field

Once you've made that important first decision, you then adjust the others in order to achieve your desired exposure.

The passive approach is "If I set a wider aperture (smaller number), it will enable the shutter speed to increase." To me this seems backwards - for want of a better word at the moment - if shutter speed is of primary importance, e.g. shooting birds in flight, or creating a silky water look.

I'd appreciate discussion on how and why you make your choices, and what - in your experience - is most beneficial for newbies. Many thanks!

The internet is full of these vermin. Beware, beware.

Have you experienced buying things on line where you suddenly discover that someone else is taking advantage of you by having you agree to something you thought was the firm you were dealing with? Like I was in the process of buying a Speedlite Flash when I was asked if I'd like $10 off the purchase price -- I quickly answered "yes" because the mailing was free of charge. Come to find out I was "talking" to someone not having anything to do with the firm I was dealing with and I was to pay a fee after one month until ???. The next day I finally was able to let the firm know I did not want anything to do with them.

Well, I was so angry I wrote this firm an Email saying, "When people are in the midst of purchasing anything - you interfere as though you were the SAME business person I was doing business with. I was dealing with a camera store and I don’t find that you had any business passing your “racket” on (to) me or ANYONE ELSE." The crooked business is called "FreeShipping.com".

Did any of you experience this type of scenario? What to do?

This is obviously a composition carried out in post production. I love the effect of the moon draining. If only the man standing atop the mesa was not there. What I mean is that if that is a real person, he must be some 50 feet tall; average height of the visible trees there.

If you purchased the program on disk, you own the rights to use the program for EVER. Free updates notwithstanding, Adobe may chose to no longer support that version. However if you registered the product, any such withdrawal of support by Adobe would be made known to you with plenty of anticipation. Reinstall could solve the problem, but it could be malware. If so, there are plenty of good programs you can use. If you are running windows, use Windows Defender to rid your system of malware. Good luck.
