Zion is the most hiking. Do not miss arches park. Bryce also fascinating scenery Might be cool
We stayed in a motel called the gonzo in Moab. Lots of fun, a little funky and at the lodge in Zion.
A week is doable if you don’t over schedule or push too hard. but the parks are close. Sounds fun!!

We will be there end of October so I don’t think we’ll get the northern lights. In fact, I’m more worried that it will be too warm rather than too cold! I have a 40-150 lens. And a super zoom point and shoot. (And a couple of other point and shoots I’ll bring just in case). Thanks!

I have those lenses which I think I’ll use with my GM1, my lightest camera. I also have a super zoom point and shoot.
Thanks!

Thanks. I think your advice on filters is good. Don’t think it will be that cold and we’ll be in a heated vehicle but I carry lots of batteries!
Partner declines the whale blubber suggestion! Thanks!

Olympus tough. Get a used one, any model. Great for kids (and adults). Doesn’t have a great zoom but it’s indestructible. Just have to get a screen protector for the back, it can get scratched. And kids love to take pix in the water! It’s as simple or complex as you want.

I had 3 cameras with me. Olympus tough ( waterproof , fit in pocket, with me always) canon sx50 (with a neck and waist strap so it didn’t swing) and interchangeable lens camera, (Panasonic) the third was the least used. I didn’t like carrying anything in my hands when getting on and off boat (100 passenger type). Or when walking on rocks. I think a walking stick with rubber tip is helpful. Prepare for video. Seals are great fun. So you need more memory than you think. I also transferred photos to an iPad every night. There were usually short and long walks each day. Short was almost always good enough and less stressful. Don’t need wetsuit for snorkeling. Have a great time!

I’d like to buy an easy point and shoot for my daughter primarily for baby and kid pix so it’s mostly indoor. Would like under 300$
I shoot lumix zs100 which is great but a little expensive and heavy/big for pocket
Any other thoughts? Used is ok too
Thanks

I went many years ago and it was terrific. But the biggest issue is water proofing. If your gear isn’t waterproof get an Olympus tough or something similar to take on the zodiacs. And don’t plan to change lenses.
Crossing from Ushuaia is very rough so assume seasickness (and be grateful if you get a calm day, as we did going back).
Weather can be very changeable from sunny to stormy in a blink so be sure to protect your gear Layer your clothes because when it’s a sunny day it was in the 40s. But in the zodiacs it was freezing and could be damp. Needed wide angle and moderate zoom more than big zoom. And video because penguins are adorable.
I actually left my dslr home and took a water proof and a bridge. Have some fabulous pix and great memories. Have a great trip!

Panasonic zs100. (And now200)

Does everything. Good low light. 10x zoom. Fits coat pocket. Looks like point and shoot.
