I bought a 27" iMac in January and later upgraded the RAM to 100 GB installed. I would do it all again if I had my druthers. With the 24" iMac you can get it built with 16 GB of RAM but that's all. The 27" iMac is still available at Costco and I'm sure at a few other locations. You can trade in your current iMac even if you don't buy one from Apple. They send you a box for shipping and a label, just saying.

I recently replaced a 27" iMac that was 8 years old with a new 27" iMac with Intel processor and was able to get $280 from Apple on a trade in. That helped to ease the sting a bit. If you put it on an Apple Card you also get 0% interest, also not bad. It comes with 8GB of memory but I quickly upgraded to an additional 32GB of RAM from OWC, big improvement. If you get an iMac that is not Intel powered you can not upgrade the memory. Would I do it again, in a heartbeat.

Droll Yankee makes several squirrel proof feeders that work. They cost but they work and they last. Black oil sunflower is what birds love, don't bother with the other mixes with exotic names that cost more, it's a waste of money and won't draw birds. Black oil is like Rib Eye to all birds.

I've had both eyes done, right in 2001 and left in 2015 and prior I needed glasses for distance, I'd been wearing glasses since 7th grade. The first thing and what I feel is most important is that you feel comfortable with the doctor and the facility. You said you have astigmatism, as did I, but that can and in my estimation should be addressed when you get the surgery. When I had it done, the astigmatism correction was considered cosmetic and I had to pay additional to have that addressed but it was worth it. In my estimation, don't try to cheap out, these are your only two eyes, give them the best. I do have to use reading glasses for most reading, books, labels things like that but no glasses to see and drive, soooo sweet. Good luck in whatever choices you make.

I bought an iPhone 11 Max Pro with 512 GB of storage and the photos are very, very good. To be clear, this device has 3 camera's, each with its own lens. I think of it as a camera with the ability to make phone calls. If you carry a cellphone only for emergencies, stay with whatever you have, otherwise do consider upgrading to a very capable device. If you carry your camera with you wherever you go, you're all set for whatever photo opportunities come along but I find my Nikon too big , heavy and cumbersom to carry everywhere. You shot with the camera you have with you and my iPhone goes wherever I go.

FiLMiC Pro is an amazing program for shooting 4K video on the iPhone X. You can shoot 4K video without it and use the native version that comes with the iPhone but FiLMiC Pro deals with the shortcomings of the native program. It's not free but I found it to be worthwhile.

I recently purchased a 65" LG OLED TV from Costco and the picture is in a word magnificent. The OLED screen is manufactured by LG, who by the way, also sells the screen to Sony for their OLED TV. I could list all the technical aspects of the LG but I suggest you simply go to the LG website and become informed. As for the lack of 4K material and programs, that is just not so. Netflix and Amazon stream in 4K as well as in DolbyVision. The picture quality between standard broadcast and 4K is noticeable but overall picture quality is superior. I've had Sony and Vizio prior to the purchase of the LG and the overall build quality of the LG stands out. If you want an amazing picture in a high quality TV, do yourself a favor and check out the LG OLED, you won't be disappointed in what you see. By the way, if the image you enjoy and use for your benchmark wasn't shot in 4K HD, it certainly won't "pop" like the same picture shot in 4K HD. Garbage in, garbage out, just saying. Check out Best Buy and if there's a Costco nearby, check them out as well, amazing warrantee from Costco.

Jerry, Didn't you say at one point you live an hour away from an Apple Store. I had a similar problem with my 27" iMac and was "certain" it was the hard drive. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar at my Apple Store an hour away and found out I was wrong. It wasn't the hard drive, it was a software issue which the Genius Bar addressed, at no cost. If, in fact, it is the hard drive, Apple will tell you all the options available to you both by Apple or for you to do yourself. It's worth a drive, believe me, they are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, just saying.

138,000 gallons of diesel fuel was leaked out and 25,000 was recovered so only 113,000 gallons was still out there! Read the article and click on "pipe spills since 2010" at the bottom portion of the story. It shows all the spills across the nation since 2010 and if you hover over each spill, it will tell you how costly was the damage and who owns the spill. There are 533 inspectors for the entire country and each inspector has 5,000 miles of pipeline to inspect!

You're saying it would take too long to do a full backup so my first question is are you using Time Machine? You do need a backup of some type. Have you contacted Apple support with the problem? There's an Apple store in Sugarland and if you make an appointment at the Genius Bar, they will look at it and most likely fix and fix the problem while you wait.

The devil is in the details, the little things. To begin with, with Apple, you don't have to spend money and worry about viruses, I've had iMACs for 18 years and yet to get a virus. When I call Apple support I speak with someone in the United States. If I really get bogged down, I bring my Apple product, iPhone, iPad iMac, whatever, to the Apple store 30 miles away and they work on it while I wait. Try taking your Dell to the Dell store. Everything on your Mac works seamlessly together, everything. If it comes on your Apple computer its yours to uses, not for 30 or 60 or 90 trial, forever! I can't think of any application for photography that isn't available for use on the Mac. On 10-27 Apple is making an announcement about its products so I suggest you look that up, but as mentioned earlier, if you live close to an Apple store, you owe it to yourself to check it out, you won't regret it! Good luck in your search.

You say you are new to computers. Starting there, I would recommend a 27" iMac. You can price one out on line at apple.com and speak with an Apple salesperson to configure the iMac for you. If you are anywhere near an Apple store, you can pick one up there. The nice thing with Apple is you can speak with someone who is familiar with all aspects of the iMac. If you can get to an Apple store, the people there do Not sell on commission and are a pleasure to speak with. They also have free classes at the Apple store so you can become familiar and comfortable with the iMac. If you get a chance, stop in to your local Dell store, just kidding, there is no local Dell store. If you currently have an iPhone, an iMac is very similar in operation to an iMac, very intuative and easy to get used to. I switched from a Dell 18 years ago to a iMac and I've never looked back. Good luck in your quest!

I saw Tony Bennett last summer at Tanglewood when he was touring with Lady Gaga, a really great show but get this, Tony Bennett ran from the wings to the center of the stage at 89 years of age. An amazing performer!

If you're buying the iMac at an Apple store, bring the Dell with you. Apple will transfer not only the photos but everything else you value in the Dell onto the iMac.
