I have a Nikon D40 camera with the original lens kit. I primarily take landscape pictures on vacations via the landscape mode on the camera. Pictures have ranged from crap to awesome as I am purely amateur. My wife and I are set to retire and travel. I would love to upgrade the camera but I don’t want to break the bank. I want to stick with Nikon as I know the majority of the functions. I don’t need all the bells and whistles. I just need something that upgrades my picture taking so that we can make travel books.

If you all think I can keep the D40 body and just buy better lens I’m ok with that if I know the lens is idiot proof. It has to work for the D40 body.

Finally. Can someone please help me with getting tack sharp focus on my landscape shots? I use the landscape mode for shooting and lock focus on the most distant object or infinity. The trouble is that I typically lose focus on the foreground especially when I want some cool flowers in focus. I do not have a live view option to see the shot. What can I do to capture so many beautiful scenes that I typically miss?

Sorry to ramble. I truly appreciate all your help. Let me say in advance how much I admire the pictures I have seen on here. The majority of the compositions are breath taking and you all truly inspire me to be better. It’s amazing how images make you feel better about simply being human. God bless all of you and thank you so very much for helping us as we move about this planet.

If so please send me your name and address via a txt msg to 770 597 2681 and I can mail it out to you on the 17th when I venture to my next appointment! No strings attached! Check the manual for the exact type of memory card! I don’t own the D500, but the D7200 is only compatible with about brands! I had a bunch of off brand cards and they won’t work and it took me awhile to figure it out! The D7200 takes these brands: SanDisk, Toshiba, Panasonic, and Lear. I hope this helps 😊

It's a brand new camera and it won't format memory cards, neither the XQD card or the SD, both of which are new also. Neither card is locked. In the format menu, I get to the point where I'm prompted by "All images on memory card will be deleted. OK?" The "Yes" option is highlighted blaze orange and when I press it nothing happens. The operator's manual doesn't address this and I can't find answers on YouTube or anywhere else on the net. I hope my camera isn't a dud. Has anyone had the problem?

[quote=Screamin Scott]I don’t consider the reply rude. The offer didn’t belong in this thread and it was rude because of that. A private message or a separate thread would have been a better way to

People are so rude and nasty today and think they are above reproach! Don’t fall off the pedestal you put yourself on!!!

maybe he was trying to do a big favor to OP and give him a good deal. your rude reply was much worse then him offering a lens he doesn't need

Agreed the reply was worded very rudely. But the OP might have thought she was offering to sell a macro lens.

Being rude is the new norm today! God bless you 🙏🏾

If you bothered to read the OP, you would know the topic is macro lens, which your lens is not. Rather than hijack this thread with a non-related subject, why not advertise your lens in the classified section? (Think common courtesy.)

God bless you and and your sincerity 🙏🏾

Any recommendations for a macro lens for use with D500? Maybe in the $600 range or less. Thanks for any suggestions.
