Since every eye is different I seriously doubt that this is accurate. Sounds like something someone made up. Some people still think "if it's on the internet it must be true".

He posted this CORRECTLY in Links and Resources. These photos are good for a laugh, but instead of appreciating and complementing, you choose as usual to remain being the UHH police patrol.

This is not where I posted it to. This is where the moderators moved it to!

I ran across this set of photos and I laughed so hard I just had to share them with you guys because laughter is the best medicine. I've got tears running down my face!

Enjoy!

P.S. Not sure if this thread should have been posted under the "links" category or here, because it is a link to a photo set. So which category is appropriate?

There is section for Drone video and photography here:

I originally posted this in the main photography discussion category and the moderators moved it here. I got a PM advising me of this. I wasn’t sure of the proper place to post this. I didn’t take the pictures myself. Maybe that’s not a requirement? Anyway, I figured I was posting more to start a discussion about drone photography rather than to show off pictures, that’s why I posted it in the main discussion category.

Yes I'm familiar with DJI. My current drone only cost a couple hundred dollars and since I got it to learn how to fly, I didn't get a camera for it. Tell me, are the more expensive drones easier to fly?

I don't really know. I know they have lots of features such as if they get out of range they will automatically return home. Plus you can program their path ahead of time and they will follow it on autopilot. I know the cheaper ones can be tough to control so I would hope the more expensive models would be easier. I got into RC Helicopters for a while and I know the more expensive models are a lot tougher to operate because they have so many more capabilities. I'm just not sure about drones, but I suspect they are much more complicated.

Nice photos. I bought an inexpensive drone to learn how to fly it. Once I've mastered the one I currently have I'm planning on getting a much better one.

The contest was put on by DJI. If you know anything about drones then you know this company. The drones that took these photos run ~$1500

2 of the photos required a bit of post processing. Can you guys tell which 2?

I saw an article yesterday with the winners of a drone photography contest and the photos are stunning! Check these out. Some of these photos wouldn't be possible without a drone (or maybe a helicopter). The top photo won the overall contest, the others won in other subcategories.

More photos are taken every day on iPhones than on any other camera. Fantastic cameras on smart phones are pretty much ubiquitous. I know that I take a lot more photos with my iPhone than I do with my Nikon D7100. Why? Convenience. I always have my phone handy. The Nikon is a lot to lug around.

My last house had the bath outlet protected by a GFI in the garage (next to the power panel).

I rent a room from a friend who owns a manufactured home (mobile home) and the outlets in my bedroom stopped working one day and we couldn't figure it out. We called several electricians and they all quoted us a week before they could come out. One electrician helped me figure it out over the phone. It turns out my bedroom wall is shared by a bathroom wall, and while the 2 rooms should be on different circuits they weren't. The bathroom had a GFI outlet that had tripped. Pushed the button and voila, the outlets in my bedroom started working.

Also, when I owned a house I had a freezer in my garage that I thought went dead. It turns out there was a GFI electrical outlet on the opposite wall in the garage that was tripped. You can buy an outlet tester for just a few dollars that will tell you if the outlet has 120 VAC going to it or not. If it has no voltage check for a GFI next. And don't count on the GFI being in the same room as the dead outlet.

Thanks for the reply. I love technology too! Emailing your photos may become a thing of the past with the 15 - 25mb constraints most email systems enforce. Photoshop may have to be retooled with file sizes like that. And I wonder if the difference in photo quality is something that we'll actually be able to see. In any event, photography sure keeps our lives interesting!

Yes, file size is definitely an issue if you want to email it to someone. So after a lifetime as an IT guy, and after using iCloud, OneDrive, and Dropbox for years I have settled on just one. I have a subscription to Microsoft Office for (I think) $6.99/mo. and it comes with 1TB of free space in the cloud. This one seems to me to be the easiest of the 3 to use. So if you want to send someone a large file just upload it to your OneDrive then share it from there. It will create a unique link for you to send to someone then just email the link to whomever you want to have access to the file and they will be able to download it without having to have a OneDrive account or needing a password or login. I also love that I just pick which folders on my computer that I want to sync with OneDrive and anytime I put a new file in one of those folders it automatically copies it to my OneDrive account which is like having a backup drive on the web, so if anything happens to your computer or computers hard drive you will always have a secure backup of whatever is important to you on the web. It all works very well and I love it.

It, however, can sometimes get a little confusing though if you delete a file off of your local hard drive sometimes OneDrive will put it right back if you're syncing in both directions. So how does OneDrive know if I want to also delete the copy that's stored there or replace the missing file from my local drive? I haven't dug into this too much but this can sometimes be a little confusing.

Yes, that is pretty cool stuff. What I am wondering is will it make the digital images larger in size? Some of the raw images I've taken with my 24 megapixel camera are around 28+mb - JPGs around 8-10mb. A prolific photographer could fill up a hard disk in not too short a time if the images are even larger. Anybody know?

I'm sure the file sizes would grow exponentially as well. Oh well, pretty soon you'll be able to buy SD Cards in the terabytes. Or you'll have to carry an external hard drive with you, but think of the photos you'll be able to capture! I just love technology!

I stumbled across an interesting article today that I thought you guys might be interested in reading.

https://www.thephoblographer.com/2019/03/23/this-technology-can-make-a-camera-resolve-terapixels-not-megapixels/

I can't say that I really understand the science of HOW this works, all I care about is the possible end results. I assume this is probably how this was done.

Pretty cool stuff, huh?
