That's a fancy stirrup.

The pair of has been in my family since the early 20th century. I think my grandfather acquired them during his travels to S. America.

I've not heard of a shrimp plant. It's beautiful. Is it a warm climate plant?

It does very well here in San Antonio. It freezes back to the ground during some winters, but always comes back faithfully. Does great in the shade and hummers love it. I'm not sure how it would tolerate colder climates, but very popular here.

The Gualalupe River flooded and took down this pecan tree, but it was hauled off and became lumber for flooring and furniture.

Or Chinese ground orchid.
I saw these guys in the botanical garden, and I liked them. They were in a big mat.
I ordered a couple, not a big mat, but they are still nice.

I have some of these and love them. They are usually the first thing to bloom in my yard. Wish they bloomed longer.
