Been away too long from UHH. Thought I should just jump back in. Both shots taken this past weekend at a -1 low tide at Fitzgerald Marine Preserve near Half Moon Bay, California.

The first photo shows some members of our photo club trying to find something... anything to shoot, but it was an off day for tidal pool critters. The second show gulls and harbor seals sunning on the exposed rocks.

I have the Mark IV from B&H. Did a LOT of research. Am adding my voice to those who warned about gray market. I checked with Canon to see who were the authorized dealers. Every single shop who discounted was NOT on the Canon authorized list which voids the warranty.

BTW, I LOVE my Mark IV! Gave my 6-month-old Mark III to my hubby and he is happy as a clam.

I've used Paintshop Pro since its early JASC days. It was a decent substitute if you couldn't afford Photoshop. I'm somewhat of a software junky, so I've also used lots of other editing software. There is no question in my mind that LR on its own is the winner and, even though I am philosophically opposed to the subscription scenario, Adobe's LR/PSCC combo is the best.

Genius series! You keep me coming back. You mention "chance." Chance is for the prepared and you seem always to be that!

Been nudger-ing my husband to get into storage So I can go through our (really) old photo equipment. Maybe this will give him added incentive.

Made me think of the bag of slides stored in the basement for decades - the discards not good enough to keep, yet couldn't throw them away. The ones that made it into sleeves, I've been slowly scanning into digital. All the time, I keep thinking no one will care... they will be tossed when I'm gone. Yet, I keep scanning.

Great explanation. Came across the course on Flipboard and immediately signed up. I do disagree on one point.

Lee Thomas wrote:
This course is more of an appreciation of the art of photography through the years as opposed to a "how to take better photos" course.

I found the course triggered memories explaining why I see things the way I do and new ideas on looking at things differently. Perhaps it is my own mindset, but I got more than history and art appreciation out of the course.

From the official site, California State Parks only require fees if the photos are meant for "sale or profit." I also checked my local city and county parks and have found no photo fee requirements. I never even gave it a thought until now.

Since these are PA county properties you are talking about, it must have been the brainchild of someone drumming up local revenues. Terrible!
