Mid-journey AI software will do the same thing - no camera needed.

I'm curious! What were the issues?

1. I misunderstood what I read here and downloaded Lr CC instead of classic.

2. Was having trouble connecting to my catalog. I called adobe support and he connected remotely andd was able t correct the situation.

3. I downloaded Ps then Ps beta. Some features of the beta version worked until I tried to move a toolbar from the middle of an image I was working on, at which time a whole lot of functions became unavailable. I plan to delete the app, then re-download.

Let us know how you are coming along. We can answer simple questions but Adobe can get into the weeds when you have problems.

I’ve run into a couple of issues but have Adobe support on the line right now helping me get up and running.

Go to this link and pick the one on the left. It has the Lightrooms, Photoshop and 20GB of cloud storage.

Thanks. I’ve downloaded the free trial and I’m trying it out. I’m going to have to watch some tutorials, as it has changed completely from the stand alone 6.4.

That depends on what you want. Are you currently using PS for retouching? If so you will probably want to continue using PS.

If you are not currently using PS then it if you plan to keep doing the same thing, you won’t need PS.

If you want to do more then depending on what you want to do, you might need PS.

I do not currently use Ps but I do use Ps Elements. If I can get Ps along with Lr for $9.99/month I will use Ps too.

Ok, there are so many improvements to lightroom since version 6.4 that I can’t justify not going to the subscription plan but I’m confused over which one. The description of Lr classic on the adobe site doesn’t mention anything about Photoshop. Do I have to go to Lr CC in order to get Ps bundled with it? I don’t plan to ever do any editing on anything but a desktop and also a laptop. Or will Lr classic do all that I want?

I use snapfish to print mine. Since I print 25-30 each year, I order them in October or November when they have a sale.

I’m a member of viewbug but I don’t know the answer to your question. When I click on the link you provided it takes me to the dashboard for my own page. If you can replace the words “mydashboard” in the link with your username for the viewbug site, I may be able to test it for you.

Thank you for all of the feedback. I’m still a little leary of switching since I don’t really understand how to do some of what you all speak of, such as when you say to point LrC to my old catalog or re-import a sidecar file, but I’ll just contact Adobe support if I have any issues. Thanks again.

I’ve been a longtime user of lightroom 6, and very reluctant to upgrade to a subscription (mostly because I’m a penny pincher), but recent improvements to lightroom make it an attractive option. My biggest fear in doing so is that I don’t know if it will simply replace Lr6 and be a smooth transition or if I will need to do a lot of fiddling with settings and how it will affect my existing images and preferences. I figure there are probably folks in this section that would be able to provide some reliable answers.

That same weekend will be the Iowa barn foundation’s annual barn tour. Google Iowa barn foundation for a list of barns and their locations.

Elements can do anything you want but you will need some form of training to get the most out of it. Fortunately there are a lot of free or low cost training videos around. I used udemy.com which cost me something like $11 for an in depth, comprehensive, and entertaining training course, which I have lifetime access to if I need to review a topic (which I have done multiple times).

I took my wife to Hobby Lobby today and saw that they have some wooden crates that look old but are new. That might be an option.

Here's a photo I did using a crate that is 12 inches by 20 inches and 12 inches deep. You can find one of these at just about any antique store. As you can see in the photo I had some burlap cloth that I used to cover the back of it just to block out any unwanted background between the slats.
