Keep in mind with both simultaneous shutter release and back button AF activation you will lose some of the advantages of BBF (if your camera allows it). For example, with BBF, if you are shooting a bird perched on a branch, and you want to recompose after focusing on the bird, the bird will get out of focus when the shutter release is pressed if AF activation is on shutter release too. In other cases, it would not matter probably, for example a BIF shot against a blue sky.

A few years ago I had access to an optical bench with multiple monochromatic and multichromatic light sources and was able to measure image % loss through UV filters vs none(air); I learned (UV filters only) that Tiffen filters lost 2.3%, B+W .42%, Hoya (Japan HMC).43%, Kenko (Japan).42%, Nikon .42%. The bench variability level was +-.2%, hence Nikon, Hoya, Kenko were the same. There was slight (relatively insignificant) variation depending on monochromatic light wavelength (color). Hence image loss from UV filter use is meaningless, with better quality filters, and may now be even less with use of better filter coatings. I did not attempt to find out if UV filters gave a color tint as some have suggested. I continue to use UV filters (primarily for protection) on all lenses.

I've never understood why this site obsessively isolates any original post containing a URL into a category where few will read it. When someone posts photo news and adds a link for the readers' convenience, why is that punished?

Thanx for the complimentary words! The little guy just hung around. The last shot is a Portrait shot-full frame no crop.
