Ok so I own Sony gear
I’ve never had a problem with the mounts camera or lens
I own A1 and A6600 lenses including the 90 and the 200-600mm
Sony and other manufacturers know the mounts hold up well under normal circumstances
Go to a brick and mortar store hold some different cameras for your self see what feels good where are the buttons and dials
Be careful your going to be told buy this or that or save big and get this…..
go on line and look at some YouTube
Go online and look at some reviews
In any case best scenario everyone has an opinion or agenda (sales ppl get commission)
Assuming your starting from ground zero do your homework it’s an expensive experiment if you don’t like what you paid for and it just sits in the closet
All of that said
I would always steer a nube to mirrorless, no reason to purchase out dated equipment
There’s nothing wrong with crop sensor (not full frame) many great gear out there
If you’re an older adult like me nothing wrong with 4/3 equipment lighter usually less expensive
Good luck and welcome to the club
I NEVER put non factory batteries in my gear
Sell it all get a smaller mirrorless with no more than 2 lenses
You’ll be glad you did
I have 2 vacations
1-family vacation, minimum camera gear (OMD with 12-45)
2-photo vacation, destination denotes gear taken
It’s your vacation
Agreed a bit dark I’d do a couple things
1-adjust brightness
2-clone the road gravel out
3-add catch light in the eye
Nice image
When carrying longer distance when not in a bag shoulder strap or hand held for me straps are a nuisance when shooting
Here’s the rub on shutter count actuation if electric shutter was used true capture will not have a value
As a Sony shooter reading this thread, in camera affects jpeg (I think all cameras affect jpegs) while raw remains unaffected unless the raw is processed using Sony software settings that allow the raw to process with the camera settings. Interesting Ive “played” around with custom capture and processed the jpegs thanks. I’ll have to install the Sony software and give it a go.
Ask her, your daughter may not want something else to carry around and sense she’s already not photographing with a camera she may not want to learn to use it. Just be cause “we” are photo centric and feel a “camera” would be better than the phone camera, it might just not work out that way, todays phones do really good at photography
We have an “Aura” frame, it is cloud based I think it is limitless as we have about 2,000 images on it. So easy to use simply send images and 20 second clips to it via the Aura app
Reading you questions, sounds like your more questioning your financial situation for the trade. So is it gas you have do your current bodies not serving your needs is there something new and shiny capturing your eye, will that new camera make a difference in your images. All above questions only you can answer.
Olympus/OM sharper and has so much more packed into the body the big 3 are still catching up that said there are drawbacks to Olympus/OM mostly sensor low light capabilities
Anyone thinking about any camera must go and rent go to brick mortar store and try it out
All the reviews in the world can’t put gear in your hands
One of two options
1) glue something on the bottom of the battery gently pull it out
2) drill a small hole in the battery screw a screw in gently pull the battery out
Chances are the battery has swelled up and the spring is not strong enough to push the battery out
Good luck
I personally would NEVER lift someone’s photo for any reason especially with out asking
