Nice Photo, I agree with some of the others here that the lighting could be bumped up just a bit. My only other criticism is that it appears the model's left fingers are protruding from her right forearm. For me this is a minor distraction from an otherwise pleasing photo.

The only way this could be funnier is if the float was being walked across the George Washington Bridge.

Was able to use this lens for a day while at a workshop Canon held in Yellowstone. I share your assessment. I can only imagine landscapes with this lens and a new 5 series body. Have you posted any shots on this board?

No, I'm afraid not. I'm an over the road truck driver and home time is at a premium. I haven't had much time to shoot photos much less process them but here is a shot from the back yard.

I'm also a fan of the 24 tilt/shift though I use it more for cityscapes and architectural.

Love to hear your review of the 5Ds-r. I shoot w/ 6D, so stepping up to the 5Ds/5Ds-r with its ability to crop in camera has my interest. Cropping in camera effectively moves the AF points to better align w the "rule of thirds" and as a portrait shooter, this is a phenomenal feature.
Best of luck selling the 5DMkiii!
John

I haven't had a lot of time to shoot with the 5Ds-R but i do like the results so far. I haven't yet used the crop feature yet.

Thank you Bangee, I too am put off by the vitriol that often accompanies these posts. I will just reiterate for you that my morals don't just flip right or left on a whim. when it comes to the important subjects I tend to be introspective. It's been a pleasure sir. :)

You have a right to believe as you will. Not only is it your personal right, your Constitutional but your God given right to believe as your conscience dictates. I honor that but also, from my point of view, your are worse off now than when you first began.

As I tried to be clear, even atheist have morals, I doubt you not but if your morals are not consistent but changes with each knew fad or with every new idea that comes along then I would question what morals you do have, myself being not without sin but keeping in mind that there is someone much greater who judges me then a mere man.

I can say this, although we do not agree, it has been a pleasure to have this discussion with you without the malic that usually accompanies such discussions. Thank you for that Mr. Johnson.

You see Bangee there is where you are wrong. You assume you know who and what I am based on a few posts on a camera forum. I was a Born again, baptized in the holy ghost, tongues speaking, holy roller for the better part of 13 years. I studied the bible, I mean really studied the bible which, in large part is why I am an atheist today. I'm completely cogniscent of the doctrine of the blood sacrifice of Jesus fulfilling the old covenant requirement to god etc. I just don't believe it anymore.

You mentioned that Christians aren't under the ten commandments anymore. You are the first Christian I have ever talked to who has said that. If you really believe that my hat is off to you. That would at least make you consistent.

I believe my moral system to be superior precisely because it has no single source. Morality has developed over time and will continue to do so.

About the Covenant of God. Have you at any time in your life ever consider yourself under the old Covenant? The Ten Commandments where given to the Jews. Jesus fulfilled the old Covenant by His blood in that He was crucified. Jesus became the New Covenant in blood. BTW: Jesus was never a Christian. He remains a Jew. Christian is just a name given to those who follow Jesus.

Christians are not under the Ten Commandments. We are freed from the Commandments by grace in the name of Jesus Christ. I know that you do not understand any of what I've said. Unless you are a Christian it wouldn't matter any way.

How you believe that your morals to be superior to the bible, a book that you have no understanding of is beyond me.

Perhaps I worded my statement wrong. I meant to say that Atheists value human principles and practice the golden rule. Regardless, we have a moral compass one that I believe to be superior to the bible. My morality is based on my growing understanding of the human condition and how best to respond to it in a compassionate way. I'm able to modify for the better. Bangee, please don't d**g out those tired old arguments about how I can justify all kinds of mischief on a whim, that's nonsense. Atheists are thoughtful, introspective people and don't change their standards just to accommodate what you think of as sin. My standards are Not based on my needs but rather on what I think is right, proper, and equitable. I could give a litany of examples but it serves no purpose.

When I mentioned the golden rule it was just to sumerize a moral system and to point out that it's origins are not Christian.

When you say gods laws never change do you include the ones about not eating pork or shell fish? Or the ones about giving away your riches to the poor? How about s***e ownership and the proper role of woman. Is blending different fabrics sinful or picking up sticks on the Sabbath? Speeking of the Sabbath, I see thousands of Christians breaking the Sabbath every Saturday. I contend that we break gods rules all the time we just chose the ones we want to observe.

I saw that you mentioned the New Covenant in another post does that mean we can scrap the ten commandments?

Bangee5 wrote:
Dave, The "Golden Rule" is not based on humanism. In fact, humanism has nothing to do with morals or the Golden rule.

1.an outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems.

Jesus uttered the Golden Rule, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and to love others as you would love yourself. Who do you give credit to?

Humanist are self centered and only love themselves. Yes, atheist can have morals and a good character but the problem with your morals is that you are at liberty to change your "MORALS" at your whim were as in Christianity the Morals or the Laws of God never change. You Dave, rationalize your morals to fit your own needs.

Thank You all for your great comments. I'll have to try it with the auto focus light or live view first to see if that works before I mess around with a focus screen. Thanks again for your replies.

Thanks Gitzo, I appreciate your in depth answer. What I'm looking at is pairing a 5DS-R with the 85mm Otus. I don't mind Manual Focus so much but I'm a little worried that these old eyes of mine might not be up to the task :). I remember looking through an old Minolta and focusing with that center circle (I'm sorry I don't know the technical name). It seemed like a good system.
