I have CS3 and PS Elements 15. They don't open NEF. That's why I have to convert to DNG. I tried a test run on Topaz but it is slow and I haven't been able to see any difference in the results. Why pay $200 for Topaz or $20 or $30/month (or whatever Adobe is charging now)? If I were a Pro, maybe, but not for someone who is just having fun with a camera to record my grandkids and family and scenic trips with good clear pictures to remember life's events.
Nikon downloads their RAW as NEF. Then I convert to DNG and edit with Adobe. How do you do what you said? Or are we saying the same thing?
Wife wants some ideas for my Christmas gift. I'm thinking FLASH!
I'm using D850 (my D90 with built-in died 9 months ago). Don't do a lot of inside pixs but would like something for dark museum visits and inside/nighttime family events.
Any suggestions? Prefer ease of setup/operation/adjustment. Good set of diffusers. Other criteria you feel make one model the best choice?

I bought a refurb 850 from Nikon and it has performed great. No complaints especially about buying it at 2/3 the price of a new one.
I've used the BLACKRAPID sling strap and never been happy with it. The adjustment locks on the strap to prevent the camera sliding to far left/right when you bend over continually open and are ineffective. Plus, I've had the safety slide that keeps the camera safely attached to the metal loop screwed into the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera loosen and if not continuously checked, the camera can detach from the strap and fall to the ground. That's how I learned to constantly check the safety sleeve...$600 lesson to repair my Nikon 24-70 2.8.
Hope this isn't too far off the usual subjects.
I'm upgrading to a newer laptop which doesn't have an installed CD disc drive to load my Adobe CC3 or PS Elements from original program discs. What are my options? Buy a portable disc drive and connect with USB cable to my laptop? Or use my desktop to copy the program CDs to thumb (flash) drives that can plug into the laptop. Is that possible?
I know the preferred method is to download from online, but that's not available to me, so I'm looking for the easiest solution to move my photo editing programs from the old laptop to the new laptop.
Great answers. Thanks from me, too.
I have twice as much invested in DSLR FX lenses as I do in the camera. It will be quite a while before I look for a replacement camera other than the type I have now.
1. Download the pictures into a directory that is named YEAR/MONTH/location(country/state/city/)/activity(vacation/activity/other designator)
2.Select all files and Rename files with YR/MO/Location/people names/other keywords(game/activity/store/park/reunion/etc)

Your 24-70mm lens should cover it.
I used 70-200, 2.8 and had to constantly back up. Nect time-24-70.
My wife has a 12 and I think the pictures are terrific. It has a few limitations at ultimate tele or macro but I don't think you can beat it unless you want to be a pro with pro equipment.
