These Painted Ladys are drawn to these Purple Asters way into fall when most of the insects are about gone. We had great fun photographing them. The bees were also there well into the fall.
Thank you. I found this site on facebook i believe. Its nice to be able to post pictures and know the people looking at them also love photography. We all have our own little niche. Thanks again for the welcome.
Thank you, I feel he is one of my best shots.
Yes they are very common. You see them out in the brushy areas where there are lots of insects.
Looks to be a Red Wing Black bird. Got out the Sibleys and looks to be a variant 1st year.
Anyone who has ever had a cat knows how wiley they are. Beautiful cat!
Nice pictures! Its amazing what will come to you if you put out food. Do you have any water out for them? There are nice water supplies available for not much money that would work for you.
Whooping Cranes are around 5 ft tall.
Taken at Thompson park, Amarillo Tx. The Woodies were obviously a pair and stuck together the whole time. The Widgeon was chatting up the whole time. I love their soft little peep, peep, peep. The swan has been there for several years. There used to be two of them, haven't seen the other one in a while.
Yes it was a hot day. Good observation. That was one of the reasons I like this picture so much!
Looks like a Red Shoulder hawk. Got out the field guide and nearly a perfect match. Nice pictures.
These are the most magnificent creatures! Couldn't get enough observing time.
Some more of my favorite shots.
We went to see the Whooping Cranes and got these shots along the way!
This pictured was captured on the beach in Corpus Christi Texas. He hung around just waiting for us to take this really nice shot. Needed to add, this was taken by my husband Terry. Great shot sweetie!
This Collared Lizard was posing for us. I got a several pictures of him. We were really lucky with him as he was out hunting bugs. He ran off to catch one as we were taking the pictures. This was the best. This was taken at Wildcat Bluff nature center in Amarillo Texas.
