Thank you W9OD. Watching them go into a turn at high speed with one knee dragging the ground and very little tire rubber making contact is scary.

Think that's scary one just needs to watch the big boys sliding those bikes in the turns.

Normally the eagles are about 175-225 yards away. While some of these photos were taken from that distance, the first few were from about 200 feet as the eagle (I think the female) landed on the shore along the York River. She eventually took off with a crab. I must admit that it was exciting seeing this majestic bird coming a bit closer. It appears that the eggs have hatched as the eagles were very active and noisy. I hope you enjoy these images, I enjoyed taking them.

Attended the Dick Coles Memorial Fly In last Saturday in Palmetto, Fl. Somewhat out of my comfort zone as I have never shot them before. I now know 1/640 to 1/800 is not fast enough. Some of the planes were about 2' long and went up to 5' to 6' long.
The last two images are from what is called "Combat". Each plane starts out with long streamers. The object is to use your plane to cut off another planes streamers. At the end the plane with the longest streamer remaining wins.

Second picture is an upside down Das Ugly Stick, one of the oldest planes built from plans or kits in exsitence. After 38 yrs still going strong. Lots of fun.

The Coast Guard is the most under rated service in the US Government. In WW II they were not considered members of the Armed Forces but most of landing craft used in the Pacific War were piloted by Coast Guardsmen. I have been told that the unofficial motto of the USCG is: "You have to go out but you don't have to come back."

You Sir! are el correctoe mundo, I used to ride 44ft Motor Life Boats back in 73-75 out of Humboldt Bay/Eureka Ca, that picture of the 47 footer was take off of Cape Disappointment (Columbia river bar) You do have to go out, but you don't have to come back.... Semper Paratus!

Every helicopter can land.
Landing safely is a whole nother thing.

auto rotating is nothing more than a semi-controlled CRASH that you walk away from most of the time.
