I live in a suburb of Buffalo. All the hotels and motels at this time appear to be book up for the eclipse. As far as viewing there are several parks. Google the towns of Cheektowaga, Amherst, West Seneca, Orchard Park, Lancaster, Depew and the city of Buffalo for parks. These areas are all within a couple miles of the city. I would suggest the suburbs over the city itself. There is plenty to see and of course Buffalo Chicken Wings (Duff's and the Anchor Bar).
If time permits take in Canelside and Buffalo River Works. If you get to Orchard Park you can get a few snaps of the new stadium being built across the street from the existing stadium.

Years ago purchased a Lexar workflow. Unfortunately they no longer produce them. Each station holds 4 modules. They hold a SSD, CF reader, USB reader, SD reader, micro card reader. For a phone you can just plug it in. It was an investment and not the cheapest but convenient. Each module was sold separate, each can be used separate (cable included) or inserted into the station. Been using it for over 5 years with no issues. It sits on my desk and takes up little space maybe 4"X6". Would rather use a reader than plugging in my cameras, it's faster. Lexar also makes a card reader that reads CF and SD cards that I use when I'm not near my desktop.

I'm a Canon shooter and shoot sports...The Tamron 70-200 f2.8 is a great lens for indoor sports, very sharp...For outdoor prefer my Canon 70-200 f4...Favorite walk around lens is the Sigma 24-70 f2.8. Like all 3, all are great quality and have no complaints...

I've used Wasabi batteries in my 3 Canon cameras and have never had an issue. Find they last as long as the Canon batteries at a much less cost. I date my batteries and after 2-3 years of use replace them. A few years ago I sent one of my cameras in for repair to Canon, they never ask if I was using another brand battery...

Shoot with a Canon 7DMarkII for sports. Indoor I use a Tamron 70-200 F2.8. Set your ISO to 6400-10000. Get some great shots... Damn thing is a bit heavy but worth the results...

I shoot a lot of sports both inside and outside. I'm not a pro but I find indoors using my Tamron 70-200 f2.8 to give the best results. Outdoor sports the Canon 70-200 L f4. At times use an extender for outdoor baseball. By far the best walk around lens is my Sigma 24-70 f2.8 art lens, great quality lens (not cheap). Love all 3 of these lenses for different situations. Sports I shoot with a 7D mark II, best sports camera I have ever owned. Walk around like my 5DII with the 24-70. If I had one lens for all it would be the "TANK" the Tamron 70-200 f2.8.

No Costco store near me. Sam's club shut their labs down here years ago. I prefer the Kodak digital cafes over Fuji. Think Walgreens uses Fuji and CVS uses Kodak...CVS as Walgreens cafes have a limited amount of edits you can do on site. I prefer doing my edits home using Photoshop or Lightroom and saving them to a jump drive. I just plug my drive in and print, the quality of the print comes out exactly how I saved it to the drive... CVS's online service (send to Store) also works great. Send and pick up your prints in an hour or so.

Most used on my Canon 7DII for sports (which this year was not much due to the pandemic) Canon 70-200 f 2.8 L.
Favorite used on my Canon 5DII and 7DII is the Sigma 24-70f 2.8. For 2020 my most used lens....

I own a 7DmarkII and a 5DmarkII, like both of them for different settings. The 7DII is great for sports (which I shoot a lot of) the reason I bought it was the 10 fps. Outdoor I use a 70-200 Canon f4 lens with great results. Indoor sports I love my Tamron 70-200 f2.8, it's a bit heavy but I can handle it. The 5DII a great camera I use for everyday shooting. I'm certain you will love your 7D, it's a great camera, I had one than upgraded to the 7DII. Both give great results!!!

In my arsenal of lenses, being a Canon shooter I have many Canon lenses, Sigma and Tamron. Love my Tamron 70-200 f2.8, use this for indoor sports. Crazy but I like the Canon 70-200 f4 for outdoor sports. My favorite walk around lens is a Sigma 24-70f2.8. Guess it all depends on the results you're looking for. My 7dmark II my favorite sports camera. My 5Dmark II (still running) for walking around and family things. I really don't think you can go wrong with a Tamron, Sigma or Canon...Not sure about Nikon as I have shot Canon for decades...

I've dealt with Cameta Camera for years. My go to guy was always Enzo. He was very honest, helpful and his knowledge was always appreciated. He helped me when I wanted to get into sports photography and (not inexpensive) he gave me some great advice on a camera body and lens. Still using it today with great results. Great luck on retirement and I will miss you guys. Hope if reopening you keep the same knowledgeable staff...

For action sports photography I would suggest the 7DII with a 70-200f2.8L or the 70-200f4L. I use both and for years have had great results. Have used my 5dIII and have not gotten the results I had with the 7DII. For action sports with the 10fps I like the 7DII....

Doing photography over 5 decades as a hobby, I enjoy it. Family, friends and some organizations enjoying my work. My fun at this time is sports as I have 2 grandsons enjoying their sports. Over the years I have purchased and sold many camera bodies and lenses. I try not to get "gas" very often but when getting into sports I did purchase (years ago) a 7D markII for the sports purpose. Love that body for that, but for my family pictures I love my old 5DII. Am I a pro? "NO" but loving photography as a hobby and having family and friends enjoying my work is all I need to keep me going!!!
My wife passed away at a very young age (39) and the pictures taken are a great remembrance of our time together family gatherings, vacations and just fun. I still have our first good camera we bought and Olympus 35mm and still use it on occasion...

Love that Sigma lens...Use it most of the time for portraits and just walking around. It's a bit heavy but lighter than my Tammy 70-200 f2.8 which I use for sporting events, love that lens too. These are 2 of my favorites...

Love the 24-70 for street photography on my 5DIII, it's on my camera most of the time. On my 7DII which I use for action, sports I prefer other lenses. For outdoors I like the Canon 70-200 f4 lens on the crop sensor camera, great crisp results. Good luck on your decision...
