Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I will be creating shortish videos on a Z6.

My wife will post them on social media on Facebook.

The videos are on her “fairy garden”. Which has an Irish theme to it. Please Don’t ask, it’s embarrassing. Now I’ve been sucked out in

Mark , that must have really pleased you and is a salutary lesson for all of us. Will be reinstalling the epson drivers on my Mac today and then see if my printer responds to me.

This is the sort of deep thinking that deserves a Nobel prize. I just live in hope that my wife does not read your post.

I’ve had a D850 for many years, lately added a Z6. I have now discovered the Video button and am rhyming to use it on my Nikon Z6, I am now very proud of myself and think I should get an award. Like the ones given to politicians when all they have done is what they have been paid for.

I would like to send some of the videos, to my wife to use on her social media site. Can you Hoggers direct me to any resources that will tell me what the best output for these are and how to achieve this?

Many thanks.

Take this onboard before dumping Nikon. I saw a vintage Nikon fisheye lens selling for about £60,000. Keep hold of your Nikon 24-70 F4 , you never know.

Hi ,

I use a large ribbed rubber thing that fits over the lens and flat against the glass. Cuts the reflections out, you would never know. Will find it and PM you the name and suppliers.

The pundits need something to stick on their YouTube videos. Make it a bit controversial and their hit rate and advertising revenue will rise. These camera companies play leap frog with each other and need to advertise what appears to be game winners to attract mugs like me.
The other issue is that people buy into a brand and develop an illogical attachment and will deny reality. Interestingly, the Northrop’s carried out and published interesting stats on this. Absolutely fascinating.

The other inimitable Jared Polin “left “ Nikon but films his you tube channel an Z6s using F Mount lens. Nikon promoted their Z cameras silent photography capability but do not promote the fact that this does not work with flash.

And it goes on and on and will do so for evermore and most of us Hoggers m including me , will keep looking and watching. Why do I do it ?

I believe that there is a comparison on Youtube by Ricci Talks . Believe the conclusion was that there was slightly more detail in the shadows , barely noticeable . However , there is the extra stop of light of course . I mugged myself and purchased the f2.8 !

I was considering buying the above until I read some horrendous reports of ink usage , particularly from the cleaning cycle. Having looked further I am now confused. One harsh critic , a library associated with a major university really laid in. However, looking closer it appears that very few photos were printed and the cleaning cycle would be more cost effective that a head jam.
Also some say that the clean cycle only happens as a major cost at the start and others say that it’s an automated process that happens every 60 hours.
Do any of you fellow Hoggers have experience of this issue with this printer ?
Thanks in advance

The only advantage I can see for your move to mirrorless is the potential to get incamera stabilisation for your lens that don’t have that. I don’t believe that the Z50 has IBIS, so you would need a Z6 etc.
I use a Z6 with an old Nikon zoom macro that does not have stabilisation and its great, I’m too old to have steady hands !
Good luck with your choice and just enjoy it.

Thanks for that. That looks like a lens that I would like . I use manual focus a lot of the time , the eye auto focus on the z6 can be a bit hit and miss.

The Nikon 85mm 1.8 is a beautifully sharp lens. On the D500 it result in a field of view of 127 mm. Very ideal for a portrait lens.
That being said, my favorite lens, when I did portraits for a living, was the Nikon 70-200 2.8.

I have been using the 70-200 2.8 but have been trying to convince my-self that it restricts my shooting because of the restriction inherent in the aperture .

I think I need help !!!!!!
