Those large buckets near the stern have me convinced this rig was used in shrimping activities. They are handy receptacles for the shrimp as the nets are brought on board.

Or the buckets may hold large cast nets.

In NC I see a lot of well boats in the sound, but most have the motor at the stern. I'm guessing that having the well far forward would keep the boat level regardless of speed/load, making it better in really shallow water. And I agree with Mr. B, I can't imagine it getting up on plane. Thanks for posting... it's always fun to think about being on the water!

Looks like it's set up for shallow water trawling... maybe shrimp. "Well" boats (motor in the middle) are often used to keep the propellers away from the nets. The deck in the back allows setting and retrieving the nets. The tower helps to visually navigate shallow water. Just my guess based on time in the Chesapeake and NC coastal waters.

Another vote for Godox. Solid reliable performance at a reasonable price. The v860ii and ad200 are both great choices that will fire all day on a single battery. I like the Flashpoint R2 pro markii remote better than the Godox because of the button layout, and I’m almost certain both are produced by Godox. Range for off camera flash is amazing and opens a whole new world of lighting options. I’ve been whole heartedly impressed with absolutely no regrets.

F-3x
Dano, I agree that the F'1 and F-2 bags are excellent if holding the camera as well.
I travel with a larger backpack that holds my 1 camera body that I have and a couple more lenses and a 580EX flash and a few other items.
But upon arrival I place what 3 lenses or so into the F-3X bag as stated previously. No need whatsoever for holding a camera because the camera is always out around my neck. I thought long about this before getting the F-3X and realized that I the camera when actually out shooting was never in the bag but is being used and thus a small bag for a couple of lenses, batteries and a few field expedient.

So much easier to carry than a large bag with empty unused space.

Makes total sense Architect1776 and I love your strategy. It also reinforces why we need multiple bags... but I'm still trying to convince my wife of that! haha

I mostly use my F-2 to store my lighting kit, which includes 4 Godox strobes, a few select lenses, triggers, teather cables, and some flash modifiers (and it's not close to being full). As you said, tons of space, but it only travels between the closet and the car. If I travel, it all goes in Peican cases, which are big and bulky, but bomb-proof.

I think the quest for the perfect camera bag is something we've all experienced, but it sure is an elusive journey. It's a lot of trial and error, and mostly personal preference. But in the end, it's the bag(s) you actually use that count.

The Domke F-3X is perfect.
I use mine with a 100-400mm L MII, 24-105mm, and 10-18mm with a 7D or a R7.
Other things like cleaning materials or a 580EX flash if anticipated needing.
When not in use folds to no space at all.
Have yet to find a better small bag for what you describe.
Sometimes a fisheye lens is put in with the other lenses when it would be anticipated.
Incredibly durable.
Mine is about 24 years old and is showing no signs of failure though faded to almost gray.
I wash it in the clothes washer to keep it clean.

The Domke F-6 is my go to bag, and there's room for the camera as well. There's both a canvas and a ballistic nylon version. These are not heavily padded travel bags, but incredible for day-to-day work. I've tried a ton of bags but always come back to Domke. (the larger F-1 and F-2 bags are great for large amounts of gear or studio work)

Interesting point Bspraue. I tend to only carry a full size tripod when I have a specific purpose in mind, but the mini/travel tripods are what you'll find in my bag all the time. My personal favorite is Aoka CMP163CL (the version that includes a center column). Yes the legs are super small and no it won't accommodate a long lens, but at just over 1 pound with a closed length of 14", and an extended height of maybe 56", it bridges that gap between hand held and rock solid. While I've used it with my dslr in a pinch, I find it more useful for strobes, my bridge camera, or action cams like a GoPro or Insta360. I think it's a matter of using the right tool for the right job... and in many situations, these little guys have significant value. Thanks for opening the conversation!

So glad it worked out!! I know first hand how frustrating it can be when you don't use a piece of equipment for awhile. But it sure does feel good when you figure it out again. Off camera flash can produce some amazing results and you have a great set up. Best of luck and please share some of your results! Merry Christmas!!!!! :)

Hi Rocky Beech. I have basically the same set up and from what I can tell, your settings look fine. Here are a few things to consider. First, if the trigger and flash are too close together (12" or less), they will often not sync. If you're just testing things out, you're likely to have them side by side which makes it seem like they're not working. Also, make sure you're using the correct test fire button. The trigger unit has 2 that are labeled with lightning bolts. Try using the one next to the group buttons (below the LCD). There are a ton of optional settings that can get in the way, but none of those appear to be displayed on either unit. Hopefully one of those tips will help. I've found this to be a rock solid set up that has never let me down, but like you said, when you don't use them for awhile, it can be frustrating to relearn the process. Don't give up! You won't regret it!

Adaptor vs. Adapter?

Sorry, that's my US version. Let's just say connector.

My wife and I have been using the small adapters for over a year with no issues at all (on both an M1 and M2). I would get a few extras because they're very easy to misplace.

Yes, I just discovered that. The circuit board with the connections is attached to the drive. With the drive removed, it's just an empty case. There should be some way I can use that case.

Maybe an itty bitty ukulele!

I had a very similar WD HD and it was simply a press-fitted case... but very tight. Your thinking is spot on - use a thin tool in between the red and black portions of the case. I used both a knife and several very small screw drivers, but it was definitely a tight fit that was not intended to be opened (small tabs around the entire perimeter). Unfortunately, mine was not a standard STA drive, but rather had the USB circuitry soldered directly onto the drive, making both the drive and case pretty useless. But it's still always fun overcoming a challenge. Good luck and have fun - defeat is not an option!

Fantastic review! Really appreciate it. For my needs I think I'm going with the RP. A total 360 from where I started, but everyone's input has really helped me challenge my perspective. What a great forum!
