My math seems to be a bit different than some here. I paid $42k for a new Sunpower 10kw system 8 years ago. Out of pocket ended up around $30k. My electric bill had been $300/mo. or $3600/yr. MA offers SRECs which clear me around $3k/yr for 10 years. MA also offers favorable term net metering. I overproduce in the summer months and bank it to offset the winter months. I have essentially 100% offset. My system had completely paid for itself in less than 5 years. I have not had an electric bill in 8 years. My Sunpower panels unlike others has a full coverage 20 year product warranty. They have been stellar with monitoring and upgrades since install. I am thousands ahead at the moment and simple math would suggest around a $70k lifetime upside. That doesn't take into consideration environmental upside. It has been and will continue to be a winner for me.
