I have a Tamrac explorer 5 and have found it to be an excellent bag. You can strap it on your back or take it on a plane and it holds everything I have which is considerable. I am not sure if they still make this model but highly recommend it.

Not sure what is going on with Copperhill. Their site has been down a while now. You might look at Sensor Swab, which is another great product. They have the swab with cleaner and without.

Wonder what happened to them. They just vanished?

I have a Nikon D700 and love it. I think it is the last of the well made nikons. Just works and works well. I have had no desire to upgrade since I got this as it does everything I ask of it.

I have to shoot a group of 40 youngsters at an(indoor) pool side. I am planning on 3 rows. I have not been to the venue yet so I don't know what the ambient levels are. I do know that I will be shooting across the narrow side of the pool approx. 30' away. I have the option to use (AC) mono 1600watt lights/umbrellas, or (battery) 2 canon 580EX flash. I am concerned about running any AC near water. My limitations are that there is only a 4' walk around ! Ceiling is high like a gym. Ladder will fit sideways. I expect movement ( hi shutter speed) due to the group will be all children. Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

I have done shoots in pools before though not that many. I have also seen camera crews at our pool with cables running all over. Most pools have sufficient light for a shoot. I would suggest that if you are doing this to have a second person to watch your equipment and to keep your shooting area clear while you are working.

Hi everyone,

Curious to know the total weight of photo gear you carry around in your photo-bags?

In my Lowepro bag I carry the following:

Nikon F5
Nikkor 24 - 120 AF
Nikkor 50 AF
skylight & orange filter
SB-24 speedlite
4 - 5 B/W and color film rolls
12 spare batteries
Other necessary things
No tripod!

Total weight:

5 kg (11.02 pounds) approx.

What about you?

:D

As a senior I have learned to think about what kind of photography I am going to do and narrow down what I am going to carry for that purpose.. I find that many times in the past I was carrying way to much stuff that I did not need or use just on the off chance that shot came along..
Many times now I just use one lens does all.

[quote=carlismycat]I did a photo shoot for a co worker. (big mistake)

She knew I did photography (hoggyist/enthusiest,whatever you wanna call it) and had seen my photos before . She said she did not want to pay her regular photographer what it costs for an entire disc of photos and what would I charge her? I said I prefer prints,

It is spilt milk. learn from it and move on.

In lens researsch I read that Nikon recommends doing this with VR lenses, because if VR is active 'strange things' can happen. I haven't been doing this and have not witnessed any 'strange things' happening.

Three Qs

1. What would those strange things be?

2. Would turning the VR off, instead of the camera, accomplish the same thing?

3. The article also indicated something about activating the VR with the auto focus press of the shutter button that I couldn't fully understand. Does anyone know what that means? Thank you

I turn mine off when changing lens to protect it from dirt. I was told electricity can attract dust on the sensor

It comes down to what you as a citizen expect as reasonable privacy and what you as the photographer consider your rights. I am a photographer but would be uncomfortable if a drone with a camera was hovering over my property.
It is like owning a car. you as an operator are expected to have complete control of your machine. Makes me wonder what would happen if a drone was over a public incident and how would the police act, shoot it down? They never like being spied on when they are abusing the system. It brings a whole new meaning to your rights. Isn't progress wonderful:-)

[quote=sixshooter]I may just need to vent here... But I had a situation at a wedding yesterday that has Never come up before and I'm not sure how to handle it.

I got caught in a similar situation many years ago. Even though I was upset I still did my best for my client/friend, I just moved on and marked it up to experience.
