Wow! The question is simple. If this is for your home use, simply ask the person who actually took the photograph. The fact that you posted the question shows that you do not want to step on toes or steal someone's work. Perhaps the photographer may ask you to sign a release that states the rights and authorship are still their creative/intellectual property. They might say no, but there is nothing wrong with asking. (Keeping in mind that even if you change it, it is still their creative work)

Good Morning! Before you spend any money on equipment or books, hit your local library. Ours has a wide selection of books that show you how to aceive certain effects with your camera. (including specialized "dummies" books and Visual Instruction books) Not only might she change her mind, but it will cost you nothing but time. If she sticks with the d3100, you can purchase these books. If she moves on to a "better" camera, you will not be out the cost of the books. Even if you do move on to a new camera, I would recommend books for reference-Pick one that speaks your language. I prefer ones with a mix of simpler language and picture examples (no, not stick figures and 3 letter words, lol). :)

Inspiring! These are the types of shots that make one think-"I must grab my camera and find some awesomeness today!". They are beautiful, and I thank you for sharing them. While I am sure some were the right time and place, so many are an example of patience and recognizing a great shot. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

If you turn on the lcd (upper right lever on back of camera with a red dot)-you should be able to view your setting changes on the lcd in live view. Is this what you needed ?:)

Maybe I am silly, but how did you ever notice what is showing when the button is depressed halfway? My eye is usually looking through the camera at that point :) Are there symptoms besides this that caused you to look?

Thanks-A good friend of mine had several kittens that were being introduced to the dogs (not in a mean way) and this one scampered into the wheel well of her car. I know I should have rescued the cat first, but I had to grab a shot. Kitty had little needles on me when I pulled him out-I guess I deserved that, haha.

Good Morning :) I am not able to help with your problem, but I can tell you that I have a d7000 with a Nikkor 70-300mm ED lens that is not a VR version. The auto focus feature does work. I only purchased the d7000 last month because my d70 was acting up. I originally purchased the d3200 (stars in my eyes and hoped to save $$ in my pocket), but it did not have the internal motor to use my AF/ED lens. I brought the lens to the store to test when I made the d7000 purchase. You may have accidentally set the camera to manual, or you may have a mechanical issue, but this particular lens should work with your d7000.

If I am sharing with someone (which is a huge part of why I take pictures in the first place), I find it more gratifying to hand them a photo or a book of photos. If I give them a disc or memory card, they are required to find a medium to look at the pixels and I may never see their reaction. While I do use digital mediums and email, I prefer a picture over a pixel for the ones I really care about. :)

I used it for a good portion of my jr/senior year in high school and directly after. I purchased mine and have about 40 negetive discs tucked away upstairs. It was so funny that the negs were in disc form too. You are correct though, the medium was a bit of a fail.

Good morning everyone. I have been reading this forum for a few months, and I eagerly await the email every morning to see what new "goodies" have ben posted. I figured it was time to come out of the shadows and into the light. I have been shooting most of my life, from 110, 126 and kodak disc (I cannot remember what type of cameras, just that I was in middle school and high school) to 35mm (Minolta Maxxum) to Fuji (s602z) to Nikon d70, and currently d7000. I have yet to purchase a 2.8 lens, due to cost, but I DO see one in my future. I shot a lot of sports to share with other parents, and have moved on to scenery and people (not as much sports). I must humbly admit, that I believed my work to be decent until I saw what some of the people here can do. Kudos to you all.
Since I have recently retired, I hope to do a lot more improving (like getting off of the scene modes,,,). Thanks for sharing and giving us a safe place for learning and constructive criticism with a little fun thrown in for good measure. I have not chosen my avatar photo yet, but it is coming :)
