I love his humor in his books. He is very clear with instructions. The one thing that bugs me a little in his Photoshop Elements books is that he refers some of the steps back to his previous versions of the books. He assumes people have bought the previous versions(I had but he didn't know that). I bought his series(1-3), The Digital Photography Book(s). I loved them. They give you one or 2 page lessons in terms my brain can handle. I also love anything done by Matt Kloskowski. He does a lot of classes and books with LR.

I just checked the cost. For and 8x10 it was going to be $1.49. Not bad, but shipping and handling was going to be a extra $7.00 for one print. I just now ordered 4 8x10 from Sam's club which had to be sent to my home. The local Sam's doesn't have a photo lab. The total for 4 pictures and shipping was $7.53. It might not be the fancy photo labs, but I ordered about 10 8x10 a few years ago which turned out beautiful. I was going to order one the same one from each photo lab and see which one was best. I decided rather quickly I could not afford to do that.

What happen to me was that in previous versions going back to PE 3-5, I had flagged that I wanted any fixes or patches added. Every time when I got an upgrade they offered me a 30 days to play with their site to download pictures to. I played with this some and this is where I suspect I allowed them to upgrade any software automatically. I did a few crappy photos. Then they sent me an email offering to let me look around at the new Revel cloud. I looked around some. Since I am a very casual user it was not interesting to me. I believe this is the point they started downloading my files. Over the years, I have to say I was not very strict setting up files. I had scanned my medical records as jpegs and had them in PE. I had a folder there to put them in. They got downloaded to the "Cloud". I think I got them deleted from the cloud. Who knows for sure. The wording as I was deleting them sounded like they were going to be deleted from my hard drive also.(they weren't but the language sound like it would.)
You think some tech company would built a waterproof and fireproof hard drive that could be bolted down. Or Wi-Fi info into a safe somewhere in or house.

You seem very supportive of the "cloud". Do you have any affiliation with adobe or any of the other companies supporting "cloud" technology? You almost sound like a Adobe rep. almost like the one I was finally able to talk to about the auto download. She told me it was my fault. That I had approved them down loading my file because in a previous version I had checked it was ok for them to update my files. I had not changed anything since I loaded Adobe 10 when it first came out. I have 10 not 11.I knew nothing of Revel until I got the email wanting me to look at it. I signed in to look and poof. I don't care which company you are this is not trustworthy behavior. I have nothing to hide, I just think we are all accepting the lose of privacy to easy.

I had signed up for Photoshop.com when I got the Adobe program, I think version 9 before all this revel started. It started downloading my info during when I had got a email wanting me to look around. It snagged my pictures with my scanned medical records which I had scanned as jpeg's. They were in MY element program so I was not concerned. I assure you this was done without my permission. Now I cannot use the program as I have in the passed to download family photos to Facebook without giving up my and my friends info. per Adobe message: "

Photoshop® & Adobe® Premiere® Elements Uploader would like to access your public profile, friend list, email address and photos." Now I can't even send photo I have loaded on my hard drive if I have used Elements. I hope Adobe takes a lesson from J.C. Penny.

I have used Elements for yrs. They came out with Revel their "Cloud". Without my permission they downloaded my files/pictures. The biggest problem is I had accidently scanned some of my medical records(and still do sometimes. Not real good with computer stuff). These were picked up in Elements. Now they got down loaded to the "cloud". Call me paranoid but I don't trust any "cloud". I have an external hard drive that works well. When I tried to delete them, it took them out of the program with information I did not want to lose. Now a few weeks later when I try to download my pictures to Facebook, I am getting the following message:

"Photoshop® & Adobe® Premiere® Elements Uploader would like to access your public profile, friend list, email address and photos." I refused to accept. I tried to go to my computer files and I could not send them from my computer skipping Elements. I do not think anyone should be held hostage to give out this info. I have to wonder how long it will be before all companies try this stuff. I had the idea of a "cloud". Opinions?

Like what this Chinese clothing line did. They photoshopped their clothes onto the child's face and body.. This could be done for less honorable uses. This was lifted from Facebook. I enjoy taking pictures of people, kids, raw emotions, but I don't want to risk unintended use. I feel like I photograph emotions well and would like to post these to get others opinions. I may not be as good as I think and it could be the little green people running around in my head lying to me. :-D Do you think a faint watermark over the faces would work?

How can you protect any pictures posted of kids from being used or photoshopped if they are posted to sites? I have taken some really good kid pictures with some interesting expresssions. I am scare to share because I don't want them scarfed for something like child porn. My daughter had one scarfed, photoshopped and used to sell clothes in a Chinese site. My daughter attempted to track them down the person and a woman claimed that was her daughter. My granddaughter is not Chinese. The picture was scarfed from facebook. Using the face to sell clothes in one thing, but my biggest fear is child porn.
