Thirty years ago, I planted Rhododendrons in the front yard of my house in Brooklyn. I would like to share them and get some critique from fellow Hoggers.

Nice photos of great bushes. We have several here in our complex, in Victoria, BC, Canada, of various colours. The different colours bloom at different times of the year including some pink ones in the winter. Some of these Rhododendrons have been planted for about 30 years also.
Great job.

You could be right about that. All I know for sure is that this one is a model 26 and the manufactures place shows a date of 1952.

My Dad owned a model 26 but I think the first self propelled combine was a model 21. Our neighbour had one and he and Dad combined together until Dad bought the 26. I think the 21 was from the late 40's.

As I said, I did many edits, mostly in color, so I wanted to do something different and thought this one would look good in B&W. The waters are beautiful as you stated. The emerald-like blue color of the water is there even on fully cloudy days, due to the composition of the glacial sediment. My next edit will use this one but I will let some of the natural water color come through.

Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate that. Your colour pictures will be amazing also.

This is one of my favorite shots from our trip to the Canadian Rockies a few years ago. I got up early to walk the trail around the lake. Found this lakeside canoe along the way. It has been edited several ways. This time in B&W.

This is a very nice picture, but I have to ask, why would you take a picture of Emerald Lake in B&W. The fascination of the lake is the Emerald colour. I have taken many pictures there and it is amazing and hard to believe the colour.

I recently visited the Jackson Hole area. Unfortunately, the valley was full of smoke most of the week. I ended up with a few keepers, I think but I wasn't able to get a few images I had envisioned before leaving on my trip. You couldn't see the mountains for much of the week.

I think the first one is definitely a wall hanger!!

I've been working on cars and making things out of wood since I was a kid, so I tend to watch tool reviews online. Reviews and comparisons of Snap-On tolls surprised me. I've never bought anything from Snap-On. My basic socket set is a Craftsman set from about 1960.

What I have observed in Snap-On comparisons is that their tools are no better than any other name brand, but they cost four or five times more. Whether they are hand tools or power tools, buying S-O will get you moderate performance, a shorter warranty, and very high prices. In a comparison of cordless impact wrenches, Milwaukee walked away as the winner, at less than half the price and with a five-year vs one-year warranty. The Harbor Freight impact wrench did very well against the S-O, even out-performing it in one test.

A comparison to tool cabinets produced the same results. Comparing large cabinets, the very expensive S-O came up short against offerings from Harbor Freight and Home Depot. As the reviewer said, they are both made in China of similar material, with almost identical configurations. So why does the S-O cost several times what the H-F cost?

I know some of you will tell us how good S-O tools are, but I'm just commenting on comparisons I've seen online.

Hi Jerry, I was a mechanic for 40 years until I retired and I started out with Craftsman tools because that was what I could afford. Once I started buying Snap-on tools I soon worked myself away from the cheaper ones. If you are making a living with your hand tools you soon learn that you can get at certain tough to reach bolts, don't strip the corners on heads of bolts, etc. with the slimmer but stronger Snap-on. I'm not sure if the quality is the same as it used to be because I haven't bought any automotive tools for years but I still have my old ones and only use them occasionally. If I was a hobbiest and only used them sparingly then I would probably go to the cheaper ones also. I don't know if Craftsman is still available and if their quality has slipped along with so many other things. Cheers, Del

I just got this from my brother-in-law - he asked if I could clean it up, and maybe upgrade the hard drive. Its battery was pretty low. So I plugged it in, and within 10 minutes the track pad popped out, and the case started to deform. I quickly got the screws off the bottom and this is what I found.

It is outside on the patio on a glass and metal table, away from anything combustible. The table can be sacrificed, I never liked it anyway.

I can't even take it to the computer recycling place, since it is like having unexploded ordnance - which I would not like to have go off in my car.

Of course Apple doesn't want anyone to mess with their batteries, so they use this uncommon screw with a head that resembles a Tri-Wing® screw, and I don't have a driver to remove it.

So it stays outside until I can figure out what to do with it. Scary stuff.

If I never bring another Apple product into my house it will be too soon - these things are dangerous!!

[Edit] the last pic was just taken, about 1 hour after the self-destruct sequence activated itself.

This was a problem with some MacBook Pros. I had mine do the same so I took it to a computer shop and they wanted a fortune to replace the battery. I ordered one through Amazon with the tools and the screw driver and replaced it myself, it wasn't that hard and it works great. The interesting thing is that Apple wants a lot more money for their battery and the one that was in it was the same as I ordered on Amazon, made in China.

I received this as a gift but I haven’t been able to figure out what it is or for what it’s to be used.

I can see one use for it - prying the screw top on a jar to release the vacuum seal but I’m guessing it’s for more than that.

This looks to me like something used to tighten shoe laces. We used to use something like this years ago for tightening our state laces for playing hockey.

I have a 2015, 13" MacBook Pro and Lightroom 6.0. I recently upgraded to Big Sur and now my computer can't find my photos in my external hard drives while using lightroom. Does anyone have some possible solutions?
Thank you.
