Tracy also remember that when you put them here it will affect how they look..some sites are really good at rendering the pics like you have them..others not so much..I think it also depends on if you are resizing them you need to do it "for the web"..good luck..nice shot by the way

Thanks JDTX!

It's fun isn't it! No matter how many times you change it or anybody else changes it it becomes a new picture. I like the gradient fade you have done here.

I checked out your photos on Flickr-gorgeous! The Temple is an incredibly striking building and gardens are beautiful. I especially like the night shot, is it HDR? It's very well framed and not over done.

Yes, there are two of the Temple and two of the new conference center done in HDR. HDR is not for everything but when it does work (which is quite often provided it is done correctly) it works very well. Oh, and thank you for the compliment, I do love photography.

At last count, yours would be the 4,973,565,741st shot of the mill and by golly, it's about as nice a one as I've seen. The lake is a little more obscure but equally as nice to gaze upon. You do good work. Lovely.

Gessman, are you among the 4,973,565,741 (hee, hee)? I know it's been done to death, but I just had to try it! Thank you for your kind words, sir.

That is the wonderful thing about photogtaphy, there are 4,973,565,741 different pictures of the same mill and maybe 41 of them have a truly unique angle, its all good. What matters is that the photographer is proud of his or her own work, and remember, there are far more people who have never seen a picture of the mill before (including myself) so for them this may as well be the only picture of the mill in existance and its a good one!

Thank you so much for all the nice comments! If you google Crystal City Colorado you can see all the other 4,973,565,741 others that Gessman is referring to  . I'm looking forward to seeing these cryptic Tabernacle photos that Gessman mentioned.

Cryptic isn't the right word. I asked gessman to make me a challenge using a wide angle lens so he said shoot a whisky bottle with the spires of the LDS Temple in the background. I thought it would make a great contrast of idiologies and so I agreed to do it. Now all I have to do is find the time to get to Salt Lake City with my props and equipment and sprawl myself on the sidwalk with my camera. :? :-P

Ah, I can't think of a better test of a wide angle lens than the LDS Temple. The whisky bottle is an interesting juxtaposition, hope you don't get in trouble

Me too seeing that I am devout LDS. The challenge for me it to make a scene of starkly oposing ideas. The caption could read "Everybody Worships Something". Beside, I will not be on the Temple Grounds when I take the shot, I will probably be on the sidewalk across the street somewhere. If you want to see some of the work I have already done with the Temple check me out on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/cityshogun/sets/72157626838015994/

The desert is a macro shooters paradise. I would rather be in a desert in bloom than almost any place else.

I call this one "Yucca Stalks"... because it's....... well, yucca stalks :D

Makes sense to me; only in the desert will you find this type of mix between color and texture...that's because it's...well...a desert! Nice shot

Anyone else have some different or funny insect photos? Please share.

I found this gal in my front yard and added a tag line. Note: I have posted this one elsewhere in this forum.

She looke mad but she was really friendly

Lets be completely fair here, expressing a difference of opinion is not critisizing. I too like Bigfoot's crop, I simply had a difference of opinion, I like the extended depth that the sky and the close rocks provided. It's all good

Hey, my friend. When are you going to do that shot at the Tabernacle we talked about? I've been wondering if you were okay. I've envisioned you lying on the sidewalk in front of the Tabernacle with that empty whisky bottle in front of you and the cops coming up and hauling you away. I've been tempted to put out an APB for you. Did you change your mind on that?

Patience my friend, I'm working on it. I am going to try to get there this week.

Taking a walk in my garden this afternoon and just happened to look closely at the berries on this bush... ran inside to grab my camera! Feel free to comment and make suggestions, but I was just thrilled to come up on this fortuitous moment!

Nice shots, I like the colors. I found a large mantis the other day on a bush in my front yard so I got out my 200mm macro lense and took this shot after which I added the tag line.

OK, here's my first try with Viveza 2. I haven't had it long, just a beginner, but I think I'm beginning to get there...How ever, I can't add the clouds that evandr did.

If this is your first effort then pat yourself on the back, it is well done, nice work:thumbup: To add the clouds you have to replace the background not simply manipulate it. I removed the background and then layered it onto another.

These are great captures but they do need a better background or at least a more vibrant sky. The good thing is that due to the solid and plain background it becomes an easy cut and past. It took me less than 5 minutes to do this picture; I chose the Kennecott copper mine because it lends well to the color and lighting conditions, and it was fun.

only problem is, the bird barely shows up against that backdrop!

Yes, I acknowledged that to PapaJon. I was demonstraiting what could be done and the backdrop was handy. I would never call it a finished photo.
