It is AGAINST FORUM RULES to take a posted image and do ANYTHING with it and repost UNLESS THE OP REQUESTS!!!

Fine. I'm gone. Not a problem.

Didn't I just read a topic that said users would be banned for changing an OP's photo without permission? :)

Welp... adios then. If making a simple suggestion and offering to show an example gets me banned from a forum that is SUPPOSED TO BE HELPING PEOPLE, then perhaps this isn't the place for me. I have no time for legalism or political correctness. If the OP is "offended" by my exampled suggestion, then I will DEFINITELY not be sticking around.

I like that first one but feel it would be a little more powerful if you take away the "busy" surroundings. Kind of like this:

Actually I want to get the kind of detail and sharpness that I see in your close ups of birds. I guess I am just going to have to get a longer lens.

Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet, RAK. I suppose if there's a good part, it's that the prices of used lenses are coming down a bit (depending on what you're going for). I lucked out and picked up my used Bigma at over $400 less than I would have had to pay for it new and it's in immaculate condition. Like you, I wanted to get the detail and IQ I was seeing other guys get. I did have to wait until I got the price I was willing to buy, but it was well-worth the wait. :)

How did you get him to stick to the wall like that? :)

I'm guessing velcro... just a guess.

Nice shot.

I am shooting with 70-200 f2.8 Sigma attached to T2i. Using Aperture priority f2.8 @ 100 ASA. Handheld Auto focus, RAW. Did some PP mostly exposure and some minor details. Cropped to bring him into forefront. I want greater sharpness, detail. These are tough little buggers to shoot as they flit very quickly. I am able to get fairly close but am thinking that I need a longer throw to capture real detail. Yea close means about twenty to thirty feet.

Nice photo of an Acorn woodpecker at work. Yup, you're going to need a much longer reach to get any detail (unless you overcrop and do some real good PP). I think you've included too much of his surroundings. My eye wanders all over the image counting acorns and not focusing on the subject. Most birds don't stick around long, but woodpeckers are a little more antsy than your average bird. How's this look to you.

Next time ask him to turn around. ;-) Another great shot.

Many thanks! I like this capture because it's a rare thing for me to catch most birds in the trees without them being obscured by the foliage.
