I'd really like a Leica M6!

My old Dell is having GPU problems with Adobe's Light Room and Photoshop. I've had them dial it back, but it is unsatisfactory.
What would you recommend that will last awhile?
Here is where I'm at: HP Envy 16" Touchscreen Laptop; 13 Generation Intel Cor i7 - 13700h; NVIDIA GeForce RTX4060; WQXGA (2560 x 1600) 48-120Hz; 2 TB SSD. It's $1,300 at Costco.
What are your suggestions?

Hi Frank. Specs overall are great... good processor, gfx card, and more than enough memory. Depending on your requirement, the screen may or may not be able to accurately reproduce colors. If you are primarily viewing your photos on a screen, I think a screen that supports 97-100% sRGB will do. But for prints, maybe look into a computer that supports 97-100% Adobe RGB. Alternatively, you can use an external monitor that can support these color gamuts as well.

It’s easy to move them in bulk. But does it put them into iCloud subdirectories or all into a single directory?

With the cable I can move individual subdirectories that contain only one month’s images.

You would have a choice to move the photos/videos into your folder choice on the computer. Though, it's more suitable for bulk transfer, at least for now.

It works on Windows 11 but not convenient for uploading large groups of photos in month directories like they are stored on the iPhone. But it's handy for looking at phone messages.

iCloud is not much better for groups of photos.

The most convenient way to copy the images from the phone is via cable.

Your experience may vary I supposed. But recently I've had to move hundreds of photos from the last 10 years from my iPhone to my Windows 11 PC using Unison and I found it to be the most easy and intuitive.

Help please, I am unable to transfer photos from IPhone 14 to Windows Laptop OS is Windows 11, I have been trying via USB C cable without any success, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Intel recently came out with a very useful feature/app called Intel Unison. If your computer is compatible, you can download Intel Unison from the Microsoft App store and the app will allow you to transfer your photos/videos wirelessly from your iPhone to your Windows laptop. I tried it out myself and couldn't believe how easy it was to pair an iPhone to a Windows computer. Here's a link with more info.

I have a question for the "Computer Geeks" among us. I am installing a PC into our other house (for a number of reasons - camera monitoring among other things). Anyway, I want to copy many of the files on PC1 to PC2. What's the best way to do it? OneDrive seems like a good way, or should I get a USB Flash Drive?. I don't need to copy everything at one time and have hi speed internet now available at house #2 as well as house #1. Thanks, Nick Marks, Dublin, Ca.

I would like to suggest a personal Network Attached Storage Drive like the WD My Cloud home. Think of it as the OneDrive but it's your personal cloud and in your home. You just need to connect the NAS drive to your router and any device with internet access can access the drive.

The 6TB Seagate Expansion drive would work with your computer without having to install anything extra. It should just be plug and play. Though, I'm curious as to why the refurb passport you purchased isn't working but it's most likely a format issue. Extra software wouldn't be required to use the Passport drive.

Hi everyone, my name is Geoffrey and I'm an amateur photographer. My interests are astrophotography, drone photography, and wildlife. I work alongside Henry P at a certain somewhat popular camera store in NY. I'll contribute what I can but in most cases, I'll be learning from you all.

Thanks for having me,

Geoffrey

Hello, you would need to sign up for the X100Vi notification list separately. Also, each color variant would require a separate sign up.
