I also grew up on LI. The south shore was all swamps at one time. I'm an old "swamp rat" I cold show you some that still exist that would make you expect a dinosaur to come charging out.(Hey that's what I have a camera for!) Actually my kids started on a project photographing these areas but I've been a little lax putting it together. My Avatar is extreme lowtide in a saltmarsh.
After instamatics my first "real" camera was a Nikon FG. I liked that it had program, shutter, aperature and manual modes. I loved that camera. It was well worn when it was finally stolen in 1996. I replaced it twice with FG's twice again after that (had several good lenses)but dropped both of them. I only have one "prop" broken one on a shelf in my office, reminding me of an old friend.
Did I miss a knee-slapper? I was trying to avoid being slapped at all! Lol.
I set myself up for that but I figured if I didn't and my wife read it.......
I WISH I could ride it! I love old, rusty beat-up things that have been around.(I made an exception when I chose a wife though))
This shot was taken near Smith Point in the Fire Island National Sea Shore. There were three nice bucks hanging around and they gave me lots of opportunities. This guy, the nicest, was a ham-I think he was even posing for me.
thanks Joe,I'm not one for much PP but I've tweeked these two and an really happy with them. I'll have to post the results
Thanks for the replies, even when just welcomed. There is a nice story with the bike but waaay to long. (And sorry I did it again, whenever I try to edit type it sends!)
Thanks for the compliment. I actually thought he looked a little too "posed". Sorry I didn't figure out how to rotate the willow before I posted. I liked the colors, sort of unworldly with out any PP
Thanks- you probably can see that i already messed up but I will get it
Good morning!I'm not much of a computer person, but after recently finding UH and enjoying it (I followed the posts on my Blackberry)decided to try to get get involved. I've had a Nikon FG since 1984 and always used it pretty much to document adventures and to take pictures for reference for artwork. Now I'm loving digital (D5000) and am hoping I can figure out how to post pictures so i can get some honest feedback on my photos themselves. I like the fact that there are some seasoned photographers here who take the time to give some real constructive guidance.
