I've been watching trains for, as near as I can figure out for about 68 years. I grew up in the UK with steam. My thing is narrow gauge steam, and when we moved to the US I discovered the Cumbres and Toltec. I made train videos for a living for 20+ years, and did a number of photographers charter on the railroad. Riding in an open gondola on a freezing cold pitch black winter morning across the desert, stars blazing overhead, with the firebox light reflecting on the steam from two hard working K-36 2-8-2's is an awesome, unforgettable experience! Chasing a triple-header up the steep grade from Chama to Cumbres summit, loco's working hard is an amazing auditory experience.

Wow this is a great series I especially like number 1, as the train turns back on itself. I live close to a place called the "Tehachapi Loop", It is a steep and short mountain grade and uses a loop system, which the train will loop over itself to climb the hill. heres a link if you're interested in reading more about it. https://www.american-rails.com/tehachapi.html

Transportation is a part of everybody's daily life, and I'm certain that every Hogger has at least one image in their files that includes transportation as a theme. Perhaps it's a car, a train, a plane, a ship, a bicycle, a skateboard, a wheelchair, a moving van, a horse trailer, a stage coach, a UFO(?) -- if it transports something or somebody, it's fair game!

How about a Harley from a hogger who rides a HOG? I have a few pictures here and there of some HOG's.

Here's a bit of practice for anybody wanting to flex their landscape editing muscles (DNG below the JPG).

Here's my attempt to the photo you supplied for us to practice. I used Photoshop and first I straightened the horizon then used my RAW filter to add depth and enhance the colors. I duplicated a layer then created a dark version then duplicated it again and focused in on lighting the mountain. Then I use a layer mask to blend in some shadows and highlights in the water and clouds. I added clarity to make the water look choppier and the clouds look more ominous.

Brown is about my most un-favorite color but here is one on my way home that has a lot of brown. This was October 16 maybe the 15th 2015 after the rain was so bad that it nearly ended my time here on this planet. I was on my way home and got stuck on the road I normally take home which was flooded to the point it scared the living S..t out of me! Later that night it closed the freeway Hwy 58, for nearly a week and it trapped over 100 cars in a flash flood. But anyway once I got out of that situation thank god and this is just 10 more miles closer to my place and I saw this scene and had to stop for a photo opp. What a diverse landscape I live in because the clouds that caused all the havoc were black as night but this was quite the beautiful sight I think.

Good morning Heidi, I glad you found comfort with the composite I did of Tama. You are welcome to use it however you like. I welcomed the challenge of creating something, testing my photoshop skills [because I'm a payroll technician] and I need to keep my creative side fed, and animals are my angels.

My name is Sueā€¦I have always felt I was put here on earth to be there for them, people on the other hand I can be somewhat introverted around. If it werenā€™t for my husband I am sure Iā€™d be well on my way to being the 'crazy' cat/dog lady... LOL.

I still have 2 cats and 2 dogs now, we are trying to downsize; so to speak; by not getting any more when one passes. The children are grown and moved out and we would like to travel some if we can. Itā€™s easier when you donā€™t have to hire a pet sitter to stay at the house now we can take the 2 dogs with us wherever we go and have our friend check in on the cats if we are gone longer than a weekend.

Well it's time for me to get ready for work, people want to get paid.

You have a blessed day.

I recently lost my puppy "Tama" , 16 years young of which 15 were mine. I am so heartbroken & missing my baby. I do not have the knowledge or Knowhow but would love if someone could add wings to "Tama" from the photo below I took last winter. It would help me to see my angel in Heaven... Our Animals are special gifts that never live long enough. Thank you , Sincerely Heidi

I'm sorry for the loss of your beloved Tama. I too, have lost my dog Spike who was 10, and my kitty Salem who was 16 both within the last 2 months. It's hard to lose one you love but I know we will be reunited again. Here is my vision of what you were looking for I added a complete scene to go with the wings. I hope you like it.

There are a lot of YouTube tutorials on blending two images. What is missing are the shadows. It's not one you can see boldly but faint and around the edges especially around the feet. It helps to merge the two images to the eye and creates depth. I would move him out of dead center closer to the reddish tree and that other bear in the back ground. I agree with Bob he looks to big for the scene. I mean you have a nice concept there but I think it's a rough draft to a nice composition.

Well, Biker Chic, this one's for you.

Well,

1. You don't drink that much before you ride, drink water, and allow enough time after the last drink that you can ride.

2. A lot of times there is a chase car if it's an overnight event.

3. I ride so if with the ol'man ties one on and has to ride in the car or a taxi I can still get the bike back.
If we both ride separate bikes then one stays over night and we go get it in the morning.

When you are out there dealing with all the elements it can take a lot out of you especially if it's really hot so we drink more water, soda, ice tea when we are riding. Once you get to the final destination then you cut loose and there is always a solution for someone who needs it.

I love tigers, I went to that zoo in March of this year I really liked it's small area. I got pits too probably of the same tiger. He's beautiful. Nice shot.

Even at 11 x 14 the trees are partially cut off from fitting in the frame size. When I try to order they crop it to fit and I'm losing the sides.

Thomas who is They? Have you tried a different photo processor? I have exceptional results from Mpix, they have reasonable prices, they offer anything from prints to professional framing and more.

That shot looks like a 12x18 which is what a full frame camera will produce.

I'd put the link to the site for you but I don't know if im allowed, but if you just type Mpix into your Google Search it will pop up.
