My wife and I did the hike in flip flops way back when we were dating. Will NEVER EVER do that again, but boy, as you've shared, the view is wonderful!

I like the email feature on that website, sign up for the alerts and you get an email a day or two before letting you know it will be viewable. Gives you the to/from direction of travel, how high in the sky, and the duration. Makes for easy planning a shot.
You don't name the area you'll be visiting or staying nor any particular route you'll be taking for the time, but CR is FILLED with opportunities across the entire country! I'd suggest a google search just to give you an idea, there you'll see where all the tours go, etc. But don't forget the land! In addition to the wildlife, there are the butterflies, beautiful landscapes, city-scapes, volcanoes (one still active the last I heard), coastal, rain forest...it's all there! Do be careful with photographing people, ask permission. You will have a great time and may not wanna come back! Oh, and I'd suggest you go the full two weeks!

What I do to get photos I've taken is after editing in LR on the laptop, I will then email the ones I want to myself. Check email on my phone, then save the photo to my phone. Works well for me...good luck with yours!

I went to the Chihuly show here in Richmond a few years back, not long after getting my 60D. I just used the kit lens - 18-135 - and got some really nice shots. No flash, no tripods. And if you've never been to one of his shows, you are in for a real treat!
