On my African tour I took 2 Nikon D7100 DX cameras, one with the 18-200VR2 lens and the other with the 200-500VR lens. (I took 2 cameras to avoid having to change lenses in the field.) I took shots with both cameras from the 4WD tour vehicles and was glad I had both. Note that a DX camera has an effective reach of 750mm with the long lens.

You will probably encounter some animals close to the vehicle, and others some distance off. I took most shots with the 18-200 but there were shots I could not have gotten without the 200-500. We were restricted to driving on the "roads" (trails), but we did get pretty close to some creatures--our guides were excellent. I've posted photos from my tour to UHH, if you're interested you can search for them.

I have visited Český Krumlov 3 times, once in 2010 on a cruise of the Danube River (side trip), once in 2012 with the Brookhaven Choral Society (Dallas, TX), and once in 2015 with the choir of First UMC of Richardson, Texas. I took photos of all 3 visits. Although I seem to have posted Sets from Prague and České Budějovice in the Czech Republic, for some reason I've not done so for České Krumlov. Herewith a few photos from that interesting town, taken from all 3 of my tours there.

The town itself is quite interesting, being situated in a 300° loop of the Vltava River. There is a huge castle stretching for hundreds of yards over the main pedestrian entrance to the town, and there is a weir across the Vltava River set up for recreational kayak usage. Many interesting shops and beautiful churches (none of which I had time to enter).

I appreciate all the nice comments. Thanks, everyone!

The PTB have decided to restore it to the state it was in before the fire. Progress has been made, I understand, and plans to reopen it to the public very soon. At my age (85) I doubt I'll get back to see it after the renovation, but perhaps others will post photos of it.

This set was of photos taken in 5 different tours of Paris, and I tried to get good shots from each of them. The best are from the 2015 visit. There is an entire Flickr album devoted to the cathedral: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8712554@N02/sets/72157656508958616/

Thanks, all, for the nice comments.

Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France is a favorite subject of photographers and visitors from all over. Its catastrophic fire in 2015 was greatly regretted. I have visited that cathedral several times over my travels and thought I'd post some photos taken prior to the fire.

As do I David but after working 60 hours per week in a correctional facility and helping (however little) with two home-based businesses, I have this general aversion to post processing and the only reason I mention it is because my wife and I took our two oldest sons to Germany, Austria, France, and the Czech Republic in the first two weeks of December.

I took roughly 850 images, many of which will never leave the hard drive. The weather was grey and gloomy and for whatever reason the pics came out about as dull as could be. Some of them are just awful and I don't have the time or inclination to attempt saving them.

There were some passably decent images night time shots of some of the Christmas markets on my phone until I left it in a cab in Vienna. Someone got an iPhone 12 Pro Max for Christmas last year...

Anyway, water under the travel bridge - send more, I love free vacations.

Mike, get over your dislike of PP and work on those photos! I've been to all those places and would very much enjoy seeing your pictures of them.

I was almost 4 on Pearl Harbor Day. One of my uncles was in the Navy and I know he was stationed at Pearl Harbor some time afterward. We did not discuss the matter ever. I've been to the Memorial twice and do have some photos. Perhaps I''ll post some of mine to UHH.

Not trying to step on the OP's wonderful photo. I thought this far down would be acceptable.

was all the same trip for me...and parts run together after many many (many) years. I was standing between cars, and remember looking down from the train into a deep ravine and saw the largest brown snake I had ever seen before (or since) sunning itself on a rock. I have often wondered what type it was.
Was my 2017 trip to Australia, but my photos of the 2 places were a week apart.
