I have Promaster on my 7DII and Neewer on my 6D, not as fancy or sturdy as Canon but I don't abuse my equipment and the basic controls are on the grip and they get the job done. And less than half the price. Both brands have the 7DII grip. I switched brands for a very good reason. The store included it with my 7DII at no additional charge. The Neewer for the 7DII is currently $69.99 with two third party batteries on Amazon. Free shipping. Just the grip is $60.49. also free shipping.

One thing I don't do with them is use the tripod mount, the grip is plastic after all. I use the lens collar with my 150-600 and 100-400. All the smaller lens I just hand hold.

Thank you so much for your advice, it is very much appreciated.
The Neewer is one I had been looking at on Amazon, along with the Vello from B&H unfortunately this one is not available yet.
Thanks again.Happy shooting..

I got a battery grip and use Wasabi Power batteries, three sets for two grips (6D uses the same battery and I have a grip for it also) Then I have the two OEM batteries that came in the cameras. So far I haven't managed to run down even one set, let alone two. Now if I went nuts on an all day BIF using burst I might do it.
Canon LP-E6 = 1800 mAh
Canon LP-E6N = 1865 mAh
Wasabi Power = 2600 mAh

Hi robertjerl, What make of camera grip do you have for the 7dII?
I am looking at them at the moment. Too many choices! I am leaning towards the Canon grip but the cost is higher than some of the positive reviewed generic brands.
I would welcome your feedback.
Thanks
Geoff

Thanks to pfrancke who posted an item that advertised a refurbished Canon 7D MK II for $999 on Monday. I purchased one. Today I received an email from Canon advertising the same camera for $1,199. This time I certainly did the right thing.

Thanks from me as well to pfrancke.
I ordered one Monday morning, after approval from my wonderful wife.
Can't wait for the Fedex truck to arrive.

I was shooting on the flats of Chokoloskee Island, when I saw my buddy fly by. As I was driving off the island I saw him waiting for me, perched on a tree on the causeway. I was lucky the sky was bright, lots of sun, and he was happy to pose, I tried a few settings, as follows. Please try the download.

Canon T2i, canon 400mm 5.6 L Lens. M mode, f/7.1, 1/1,000, f/5.6, 1/1,250, and f/13. 1/500, all ISO200, spot metering

That is up to you.
Unless you want the newest with all the bells & whistles and are prepared to pay the extra and wait for them to come in to stores.

Personally I feel the price for the old Apple Tv 3rd generation is a bargain at $65.00.
I use mine every day it beats all the hundreds of channels of rubbish that my cable company has.

I'm going to this hook-up with modification...my TV has only one HDMI input, I'll use it for the AppleTV and use another type of input for my cable box input.
I'm not sure if I can hook the Ethernet cable from my router to the Appletv, and use the wireless function of the router, at the same time?

Hi Nikonlad,
You can get a HDMI splitter from Bestbuy or Radioshack, this would help keep your cable box on HDMI.

I tried to talk to a human from Apple TV, Apple Service, and NFL TV without success.
I have Verizon Fios TV service, so I cannot buy NFL Sunday ticket; I checked; Direct TV/AT&T owns the contract. But, I can stream NFL TV to watch live games on my computer or my iPhone 6+.
Apple sells a black box called Apple TV. Now the question.
Can I attach the Apple TV box to my Sony HD flat screen TV so that I can watch the NFL TV streaming games on my Sony TV instead of having to watch them on my Lenovo Windows 7 computer?

I have an Apple TV box connected to my Sony tv.
You attach the apple TV box to your tv with a HDMI lead, then you can link it with your apple device and watch the game on your TV,

Be sure to get photo credits. And remember your expenses like auto etc. will be a deduction on your taxes.

Volunteering is a great way to serve and "give back" to your community and great causes. It also can serve as a spring board of experience if you want to take it further.

Hi Gary,
I have just had a look at the BLT website and have seen your photographs. It looks like everyone had a good day and you got to pursue one of your hobbies, with a mention and thanks from the organizers.
Good on you for providing your services to this cause, the world needs more people like you who are willing to give freely to their community.

Really enjoyed that thanks for posting.
Have you seen the program about Guy Martin building a motor bike to do the hill climb?
It is 47 minutes long but worth watching.

Before the road was paved to the 14,000 foot altitude.

Classy filming...

HANGING IT OUT OVER THE EDGES AT NEAR 14,000 FEET.

The last time I drove up Pikes Peak, around this era, I drove up on the day when a couple of thousand runners were doing the Pikes Peak Marathon. That was thrilling.

Got out of the car in the parking lot. There were 5 aid stations and people lined up in their running gear at all 5. Hundreds of runners in the parking lot hacking their lungs out all over the lot.

I drove up in a new Ford Taurus* rental. By the time I reached the top and back down to the bottom, the pumice road surface had invaded the bearing seals on the front wheels and the rental company had to tow me out a replacement car. Nothing in the rental agreement said "Don't climb Pikes Peak". They paid for my motel and meals for one day while they sent a flatbed out with the replacement.

I love Pikes Peak... the cog rail trolley up the mountain has a floor platform with about a 20-30 degree angle. The art community of Manitou Springs, 26 miles from the top of the Peak is a fascinating little town.

The surrounding copper mine country and Colorado Springs are must see areas of Colorado.

Enjoy the show.... turn the lights down, switch to full screen, put on your helmet (bike if nothing else) and prepare to "near wet yourself" on this one.

Nice shots. In the first photo it does appear that something is wrong with the eye ... wonder if it's just the angle and the fact that he's looking down at you maybe? Can't see the same eye in #2 unfortunately.

Tom

Thanks for looking Tom.
I hope it is just the angle, it was sat there for quite a while.

Second attempt at adding another photo of the Osprey.
I didn't realize it wasn't a JPG!

I went to Circle B Preserve in Lakeland last week with friends.
I took some photographs of an osprey when I looked at the photographs on my computer I noticed something wrong with it's eye.
Has any one any ideas what the problem is?
