I was wondering when you'd get "out of the box", literally :-) . Your wooden box is a great prop, and this image leaves me wondering if an old-style wooden writing desk, perhaps with a bookcase at its head, might make an interesting work area for still life. It'd be like the box only more functional and open, and it would lend itself to experimenting.

My only inspiration was to get busy with the Adjustments brush.

Here you go, R.G.

Thank you. I wondered what it would be like if you kept the texture but softened it down a bit. I softened the colours too. My conclusion is that there's not a lot wrong with the original. Anyway, here's an alternative for comparison.

Did your camp stool and camo netting get a good airing for this one?

Is that her practising her "It's all your fault" look that she'll be making good use of when she's older?

Dream-like and very original. My suggestion would be to ease off the vignette along the bottom, leaving more of an arch rather than the complete ellipse.

Hey RG, here is a late arrival to this very beautiful scene. Edit done completely in Lightroom with a strong emphasis on the moodiness of the scene.

Glad you got here eventually, Lloyd. You've injected some menace that I hadn't seen in the original  .

Thanks for participating, MMC. You've certainly captured typical west coast weather :-) .

Hi Colonial Coz. I'd like to think that the pics stirred enough memories to give you a reasonable alternative to an actual visit. And hopefully that option will be a real possibility for you some day. Thanks for the very much appreciated compliments.

R.G. I'm going with the first 4 as being favorites.Very well done. I have traveled many places throughout the world but never Scotland. Seeing these only makes me wish I had. Thanks for a reminder of places I have never seen.

I suspect that was their main survival technique. Thanks for looking and commenting, Piet.

Go back a hundred years or so and it couldn't have been faulted - lots of wholegrain oats, fish, occasional low fat organic beef and mutton. A bit low on fresh fruit perhaps, but I've never heard of a Scot suffering from scurvy....

So we're agreeing to agree? Good. The use/misuse of the term "photographer" is another subject for another day.
