I have a Kindle that hasn't been turned off in months because the power button doesn't work. When I open and close the case, it turns on and off, so I can still use it. Now, it's developing a problem with the USB charging port. It's very difficult to get a good connection. Changing cables doesn't help. I doubt that little socket is a simple replacement, so I may have to say goodbye to this Kindle soon. I've opened it up to checkout the power button, so maybe I'll open it up again to see how that socket is connected. Since it's still working, I'd rather not make it worse.

I'd like to see cordless charging for everything.

What version Kindle? If it is within the last couple of years you should be able to get a wireless charger.

I know what he meant. But, any collector of firearms ought to know the proper nomenclature for his hobby. There are but few weapons in the "public domain" with selector switches, and he should know that.

He also has a pretty poor understanding of history.

Yea, I was being facetious.

The AR-15 is no deadlier than any other weapon. And the ban on high capacity magazines was tried, and found not to be a deterrence to those who wished to harm others. You, as a "gun collector" should also know the difference between a "clip" and a "magazine. And, I have no idea what you mean by "auto switches". In fact the AR-15 is further down on the list than are handguns of all types. You are far more likely to be killed by a drunk driver than an AR-15.

You can't have it both ways with the 2nd Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms long precedes the U.S. Constitution; it even precedes the settlement of the colonies in North America.

As to the "Wild West", it wasn't. Murder rates in Kansas during the cattle drive years, had fewer murders in several towns in total, that the number in Chicago, and many other cities in the East. The west was very tame, and in fact, many towns, such as Dodge City and Abilene had ordinances which forbade carrying guns in the city limits.

I'm pretty sure he meant select fire and not auto switches. Although in his defense he did say he collected guns not that he knew anything about them.

I am a gun collector and will probably catch a ton of crap for this comment but here goes, the civilian version of the AR15 should have never been produced and sold to the public it is a deadly weapon in the hands of the wrong people, it has caused more grief than any weapon sold I am also in favor of banning high capacity clips and auto switches and bump stocks, all these items have caused nothing but problems and have made all honest gun collectors look like monsters in many civilians eyes, I for one would like to see more stringent laws to own guns. I believe in the 2nd amendment but also believe we need to protect innocent people from getting gunned down it has become as big a problem as the pandemic and needs to be addressed we have reverted back to the 1800 and act like it’s the wild Wild West, and it needs to stop before more innocent people and children get shot and killed.

The AR15 is a civilian weapon, there is no military version of the AR15. All firearms are deadly weapons regardless of who is holding it, weapons regardless as to whether it is an AR15 or a Glock do not cause grief only the person firing the weapon does. The only people who consider gun owners or collectors monsters are those who have been indoctrinated to believe so. Stringent gun laws mean nothing to the criminals who are killing people. Guns do not kill people it is the person pulling the trigger that kills people.

One problem I read about is that this new ammo is heavier and larger than current 5.56 ammo, so magazines will only hold 20-25 rounds vs 30 as now. Plus the extra weight will reduce how much ammo the soldier can carry. This was the same type of problem the Army had initially in VietNam, their 308 cal M14 rifles were too heavy for jungle warfare, not enough ammo per person vs the VC troops who had the lighter AK ammo with 30 round mags. Plus the rifle will be much harder to control on full- or semi-auto fire due to heavier recoil. Yes the new cartridge is faster and has more terminal energy than 5.56 but the system altogether seems a step backwards.

The .308 also has about double the 5.56 effective range.

I'm not an expert on firearms, so I might get some terms wrong. I saw online that the army is getting rid of their version of the AR-15 from Armalite, and they will be replacing it with the M5, also from Armalite. The army wanted more range and more power, and the larger bullet should give them what they want. Although the army will have to wait a couple of years for the new weapon, it is supposedly available to the public right now under the name Aero Precision M5 (I think).

The military doesn't use any version of the AR-15. The military uses the M4A1. The M5 is not produced by Armalite but by Aero Precision and the Aero Precision M5 is chambered for a .308 round but there is also a Colt M5 which is chambered for 5.56 NATO like the M4A1

Shouldn't the parents of these kids be arrested for child abuse?

Someone should also do something about the people who design these Easter Bunny costumes.

Most of them are downright frightening. Killer rabbits are real.

The Shofuso Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual event in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park that includes food and music. Unfortunately, because the weather was volatile the last couple of weeks the blossoms were a little sad looking compared to other years. This is from Saturday 4.9.22 just after sunrise.

Nothing comes close to the rich flavor and smoothness of Kona coffee, we always drink it black with no sugar added. Either Jerry got a bad batch of Kona or it was an impostor that left him with a bad taste for what I consider to be the ultimate coffee to enjoy. Costa Rican coffee comes in as a rather distant second for me.
