I believe it is a combination of two things.

1. the anonymity, of course -- it gives a person the ability to speak without much thought behind the words (well, more than usual).

2. The written word is so easily misunderstood. I have posted many things over the years that were taken the exact opposite of what I meant... and there have been times when trying to correct things just made it worse. The sound of a voice and facial expressions are so important in human communication.

Just for clarity: Easier than... ?

I don't get it. I have looked at all these Youtube videos (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Cotton+Carrier+CCS+G3+Harness) and don't see how it compares with a monopod OR a tripod. It looks like a handy (albeit complicated... and pricy to boot) way to carry your camera is all. If you consider yourself as sturdy as either of the "pods" perhaps but I would still call it 'hand-held." What am I missing?

TBH, I don't know. This is my only experience with a gimbal.

But, just let me say that this is a very comfortable way to "hand-hold" a large heavy lens. Since the camera/lens is balanced on the gimbal with all the weight transfered to the monopod, it is essentially weightless to the photographer. And with the single hand control of the up/down adjustment to the monopod and the ability to point in any (every) direction, it is just like actual hand-held without, of course, the "shaky" hand.

Life is not that short. You don't have to do it all in one gulp. We did it in segments... and not all of them connected to the previous one. We decided quality was better than quantity and spent more time in each area.

I use a Tomahawk Gimbal with a Manfrotto 685 B Monopod when using the Tamron 150-600 lens. It is an invaluable combination when shooting fast moving objects -- BIF, for instance. The one-handed control of the monopod is an added bonus.
